Dealers Can Order 2024 Chevy Trailblazer, Or Use Port Consensus Model

The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer arrives as the crossover’s fourth model year, ushering in a mid-cycle refresh complete with new exterior styling, an overhauled interior, and more features. When it comes to acquiring new 2024 Chevy Trailblazer inventory, GM dealers will be able to either place an order, or use the port consensus model. Notably, this is a similar setup with regard to acquiring new inventory of the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax, per previous GM Authority coverage.

For those readers who may be unaware, the port consensus model involves more direct control on the part of GM with regard to dictating which vehicles are produced within the latest production constraints. Essentially, GM will select the trim levels and configurations for a given model set to be produced, and once these new vehicles arrive at port, GM dealers can then select from what’s available to replenish their inventory.

This differs from the regular consensus model, which affords GM dealers more say in which models are produced. In the regular consensus model, dealers make direct requests to GM with regard to vehicle configurations and trim levels. The requests are made at regular intervals known as DOSP, and can include guidance from GM based on current market conditions. Once a consensus is reached between GM and the dealer, with the latter deciding on the trim levels and configurations desired, GM can then fulfill the request or modify it as needed, with the vehicles subsequently produced and delivered.

With regard to the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer, GM dealers will need to use the port consensus model to replenish inventory. Dealers can also place orders, as needed.

As a reminder, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Trailblazer offers two engine options, including the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, as well as the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine. Front-wheel drive is equipped as standard, with all-wheel drive offered as optional. The GM VSS-F platform provides the underpinnings. Production takes place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

  1. Port consensus is fine about 80% of the time. However, I would prefer to order. Because 20% of the time, you may not receive the best option for your market.

  2. So if you want an SUV smaller than a small home you can order a GM product, but it likely will be built in Korea or China. If you want an GM American built SUV product it will be built in Texas and be a true truck, not a crossover vehicle.

Torn between the trailblazer and the RAV4. Think stick to American, but RAV4 built in Kentucky, trailblazer Korea. So got that.
