Positioned as the pinnacle of the Chevy Camaro lineup, the Camaro ZL1 is a high-performance track weapon that has the ability to catch unsuspecting sports car off guard. So, what happens when you want the performance of the supercharged muscle car, but with the sleeper aesthetic of an old G-body? Well, this particular owner decided to combine both with this interestingly mashup.
From just a quick glance, the most glaring feature of this build is likely the faded paint job, as the Monte Carlo body has certainly seen better days. However, the longer one stares at this build, the more you begin to notice.
The first hint that this build is no humble G-body comes in the form of the fender flares. Although the flares appear to be simply welded on, they cover meaty ZL1 wheels and tires. Moving out back, there’s a Corvette-style exhaust setup, along with rear-parking sensors.
Moving inside, more Camaro features can be found. Most notably, the entire cabin from the front seats forward is all sixth-generation Chevy Camaro, while the rear is taken from the original Monte Carlo. This interesting mashup in the interior provides for a trippy visual experience, as it can be hard to decipher exactly what you’re looking at. Furthermore, there’s even a rear parking camera.
Finally, popping the hood reveals the true nature of this build, as its all Camaro ZL1 in the engine bay. Nestled front-and-center is the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which churns out 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Notably, the factory shock towers are still present, indicating that this build is a Camaro ZL1 with a Monte Carlo body grafted onto it.
According to a post to social media, this Camaro-Monte Carlo mashup was captured at the Hot Rod Power Tour 2023. With this in mind, we want to know what you, dear reader, think of this build. Do you think the owner was wrong to combine the Camaro ZL1’s performance with the 1980s Monte Carlo look? Fire off in the comments section below!

I think the camero-monte Carlo mashup is awesome. The Monte Carlo has always been my favorite car!
Camero?
Kamarrow?
Yeah, I like it. I would probably finish the exterior a bit more and then have fun with it.
It’s kind of like putting a Boss 302 in an old Ford pickup, just tons of fun out on the streets.
I like the old school look. Definitely putting performance in the G body. Rat rod finish appeals to all generations
Totally awesome Ten Thumbs UP!
It’s what the Monte Carlo SS should have been… Cool combination!
Great job my first new car was an 84 Monte Carlo SS, and now I have a 2011 Camaro SS so familiar with both I think it’s a great idea although I would finish the body work and paint
Let us know when it’s finished.
Really liked this generation Monte Carlo in light blue.
The world needs more cars like this. I dig it.
Total Roadkill build. Let’s see a video of how it runs! Love the welded on fender flares…..
Totally Awesome 10 THUMBS UP!
Where’s Frieberger and Finnegan?
I have an 85 Monte Carlo it was my wife’s. I wanted to do something like that to the car but she says if I touch it she’ll probably break my fingers —it only has 20,000 miles on it and it has never seen rain or snow but I guess that’s the way it’s going to stay The way it is all original. I think it’s a great building it’s awesome. He should finish the exterior and trick it out. Get job!
Hold on is this on the G body? Cause under the hood it looks like you can see alpha platform
Very nice Far cry from the 160HP 305 🥱😪😴😴😴that was probably in there when it was first released..
