The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV was revealed early in 2022 at the Consumer Electronics Show, debuting an all-new battery-driven variant for the pickup. Of course, the Chevy Silverado EV was designed to do just about everything one would expect of a pickup model, all with zero local emissions. The question is – does that include carrying a slide-on camper?
It’s an important question. After all, ICE-powered model variants of the Chevy Silverado nameplate offer the ability to carry a slide-on camper, so how about the Chevy Silverado EV?
Unfortunately, the Chevy Silverado EV cannot carry a slide-on camper, per documents seen by GM Authority. In fact, using a slide-on camper with the Chevy Silverado EV may even damage it, and the damages would not be covered under the vehicle warranty. Notably, this is similar to the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, which is also unable to carry a slide-on camper.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Chevy Silverado EV can’t be dinghy or dolly towed, once again per previous GM Authority coverage. Instead, GM recommends that the Chevy Silverado EV be loaded onto a flatbed tow truck or a trailer if it requires transportation. The Silverado EV was not designed to be towed with any of its wheels on the ground.
Last month, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released official range-per-charge figures for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV, rating 3WT and 4WT trim levels for the all-electric pickup at 450 miles, exceeding GM’s original estimates, as well as those of the pickup’s nearest competitor, the Ford F-150 Lightning.
As a reminder, the Chevy Silverado EV features GM Ultium Drive motors and GM Ultium batteries. Vehicle takes production at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, previously known as the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, while under the body panels, the Chevy Silverado EV rides on the GM BT1 platform.

The regular half ton can’t carry a “slide on camper” either. Most don’t have the cargo capacity to carry the weight plus passenger and supplies
They make slide on campers for much smaller trucks. The Silerado EV is just not a good truck. It exemplifies everythong wrong with modern trucks. My old Ford ranger has just as much payload capacity.
Sure. But don’t go without an inverter generator to recharge because you may not find a charging station where you’re going with the camper.
I always heard slide in not on!
I’m curious what towing does to this range will be like lighting
This EV is ugly and makes the Honda Ridgeline look good 🙂 LOL
Do people even buy slide on campers anymore? I rarely seen one. Travel trailers over 20 ft is the majority . I don’t think I’ve seen a handful of slide on campers in 10 yrs in upstate NY. Sorry what’s the point of this article.
Gauge cluster is a complete afterthought , if I had a dog that looked like that I would shave his butt teach him to walk backwards
