For the second straight quarter, the Cadillac Escalade was rated as the second-most desirable luxury vehicle, coming in behind the Buick Enclave in both Q4 2022 and Q1 2023 rankings.
According to a new report from Cox Automotive and Kelley Blue Book, the Cadillac Escalade was the second most desirable luxury vehicle during Q1 2023. Meanwhile, the Buick Enclave topped the list as the most considered luxury vehicle for the second consecutive quarter. In fifth place was the Buick Encore, followed by the BMW 3 Series, BMW X3 and Buick Envision in sixth, eighth and tenth place, respectively.
It’s worth noting that the Escalade was the most desirable vehicle in Q3 2022.
Overall, luxury SUV consideration rose five percent from Q4 2022 figures to 73 percent. Meanwhile, luxury sedan numbers fell six percent from Q4 2022 to 45 percent.
In its recent Q1 2023 Brand Watch report, Kelley Blue Book outlined which models consumers were considering for purchase in a variety of different categories and segments. Established in 2007, the latest rendition of the study includes both mobile and desktop users, a change implemented as of January 1st, 2022, thus providing a better response rate and more diverse group of respondents. Before this change, results were based on desktop users only.
As a reminder, the Cadillac Escalade is set to receive a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year. This revision will include enhancements to the exterior styling, an overhauled cabin, and an updated powertrain lineup. Thus far, GM Authority spy photographers have captured several pictures of Escalade prototypes testing on public roads. Unfortunately, said photos don’t reveal much detail about the refreshed full-size luxury SUV. That being said, the start of regular production (SORP) of the refreshed 2024 Cadillac Escalade is currently scheduled for November 2023, so we expect further details to come soon.
In regard to the current model, the 2023 Escalade is powered by one of two engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Notably, one of the expected updates for the 2024 Escalade will be the introduction of the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax.
Meanwhile, the high performance Cadillac Escalade-V takes the performance envelope to the next level with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 engine, which develops 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque.
Under the skin, the Escalade rides on the GM T1 platform, while production kicked off at the GM Arlington plant in Texas on July 18th, 2022.
