The all-new Audi A3 followed in second with a 197 percent leap in sales to 4,068 units. The CT4 took third place with a 43 percent bump to 2,712 units. The Mercedes-Benz CLA placed fourth with a 138 percent jump in sales to 2,530 units. The BMW 2 Series, made up of two mechanically distinct models – the two-door Coupe and four-door Gran Coupé – followed in fifth with a 66 percent slide to 1,383 units. Mercedes-Benz’s second entry, the A-Class, took sixth with a 89 percent drop to 126 units as the A-Class was dropped after the 2022 model year. The Acura ILX finished out the list with just two deliveries since the model was replaced by the aforementioned Integra.

The GM Authority Take
While the Cadillac CT4’s third place finish during the first quarter of 2023 is respectable, all-new models from key rivals have begun to shine in the sales department. Specifically, the all-new Acura Integra continues to be a strong contender for the CT4 with nearly three times as many deliveries this time around to remain at the top of the segment since appearing at dealers. The all-new Audi A3 had a strong showing too, placing second.
We posit that the dominant performance in Integra sales will be short-lived, with the current sales volume being the result of Acura meeting initial demand for the model. We’re not yet sure how things will go for Audi and its all-new A3. For its part, the CT4 is due for a midcycle refresh that will likely result in an uptick in sales interest and sales volume once launched.
About Cadillac CT4
The 2023 Cadillac CT4 arrives with just a handful of changes and updates over the 2022 Cadillac CT4. Notable for the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is the debut of new Track Editions. Offered in three different iterations, each is named after a U.S. race track, including the Watkins Glen IMSA Edition, the Sebring IMSA Edition, and the Road Atlanta IMSA Edition.
The Cadillac CT4 rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform, with the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine. It is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and connects to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B and GM 10-speed automatic transmission are optional on the Premium Luxury with 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, and standard on the CT4-V, rated at 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. All these variants are available in both rear-wheel-drive and optional all-wheel-drive configurations.
The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing runs the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine, rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The GM six-speed manual transmission is standard, while the 10-speed auto is optional – both exclusively feeding the rear wheels.
In December, Car and Driver named the CT4-V Blackwing to its 2023 10Best cars list.
Though it was expected that the 2024 Cadillac CT4 range would debut a mid-cycle refresh, we’ve since learned that the 2024 CT4 is not getting a refresh after all. The updated model will likely now arrive for either the 2025 model year or possibly the 2024.5 (interim) model year.

Interesting…I never realized this was the competitive set for the CT4. I assumed it was in the next class up comparing to the Audi A4 and BMW 3 series.
Then CT5 going against the A6 and 5 series.
JT and Aj: I agree. They seem to make these comparisons based on the interior volume like Mark T said. However, I have always looked at it based on overall size (exterior) as well as pricing.
Anyone who would look at a Cadillac and compare to the other brands would definitely look at the CT4 and automatically compare to the A4, 3 series and C class. Anyone looking at the CT5 would generally gravitate to the A6, 4/5 series and E class. It’s just naturally what the eye would do when looking at them.
Ct4 competes against the Integra? Just seems off.
Cadillac has been comparing the CT4 against the smaller BMWs and Benzes and Audis based on interior volume and pricing for quite awhile. GM originally benchmarked the E46 3 series when they developed the ATS. By the time the ATS came out, the 3 series interior had grown to approximately the size of the CTS, and the BMW had always been more expensive than the ATS anyway, being priced more in line with the CTS as well. Technically, the CT4 does now more directly compete with the smaller German cars, which didn’t exist in 2012 when the ATS first appeared. Even the CT4-V with it’s big four still seems to compete spec-wise with the sportier versions of the smaller Germans. Only the CT4-V Blackwing seems designed to go against the M3-M4 and C Class AMG, where the tighter interior won’t matter so much. The wonders of marketing!
Now that Cadillac got the CT4 right, it will be discontinued per GM’s policy to discontinue a product once it gets it right.
Well they mostly had the ATS right. All they really needed to do was update the interior. Instead they changed the name, and gave it a more anemic 2.0t. They should stayed with the 2.0t that was in the ATS with 272 hp. Dropping 35 hp and almost 40 lb ft of tq, just to gain 1 mpg in hwy. In a sedan that Cadillac markets as a sport sedan seems backwards.
