Austin Hill will take control of the No. 62 NASCAR Chevy Camaro ZL1 for the Cup Series race at Atlanta on July 9th, 2023. The No. 62 Camaro is a part-time entry fielded by Beard Motorsports, and the forthcoming race will mark Hill’s second career Cup Series start.
“Back for more,” Beard Motorsports said on social media. “We’re excited to announce the addition of Atlanta Motor Speedway to the Beard Motorsports schedule.” The entity also confirmed that Hill would be behind the wheel of the No. 62 NASCAR Chevy for the event.

That means that the No. 62 Camaro will join the Cup Series field for six races total this year. Hill attempted to qualify for the season-opening Daytona 500 in Feburary, but a crash in the qualifying Duel race rendered him unable to compete in the Great American Race. Then, Hill and the No. 62 Camaro raced at Talladega on April 23rd, 2023, finishing 24th.
Initially, Beard Motorsports intended to compete in the Chicago street race on June 25th, but has since withdrawn the No. 62 NASCAR Chevy from this event. Aside from the forthcoming Atlanta race, expect to see the No. 62 Camaro on track for Michigan on August 6th, Daytona on August 26th and Talladega on October 1st.
As a reminder, Hill regularly drives the No. 21 Camaro in the Xfinity Series. He has two victories in the division this year, including at Daytona on February 18th, and again at Las Vegas on March 4th. Hill has performed well in his two starts at Atlanta since its reconfiguration, which turned it into a “mini Daytona”-style track, finishing second in his first outing on the updated racetrack on March 19th, 2022, and winning the second time around in the Xfinity race on July 9th, 2022.
