2024 GMC Acadia: What We Know And Expect

GM will debut an all-new third generation for the GMC Acadia with the upcoming 2024 model year, introducing a wealth of updates and changes over the preceding 2023 model year. These will include new styling inside and out, new tech features, a new powertrain, and more. Now, GM Authority is detailing everything we know and expect from the next-gen 2024 GMC Acadia with the following breakdown.

A spy photo of the next-gen 2024 GMC Acadia.

Model Line

The 2024 GMC Acadia is not expected to introduce any changes to the existing trim level lineup. The current GMC Acadia lineup includes SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

Exterior

The third-generation 2024 GMC Acadia will be larger than the current second-generation model, returning the Acadia nameplate to full-size dimensions similar to those of the first-generation model.

The next-gen model will feature new styling as well, with a traditional utility vehicle roofline and greenhouse, as well as an upright front fascia, plus quad exhaust tips in the rear.

Interior

The 2024 GMC Acadia will debut a completely overhauled interior with a new steering wheel, new colors, and new materials. The cabin will offer more space and improved ergonomics compared to the current model, as well as new infotainment goodies and a new gauge cluster, with a fully digital cluster offered higher in the lineup. There will be new safety and convenience tech as well, including the GM Super Cruise system.

Powertrain

Under the hood, the 2024 GMC Acadia will cradle a new powerplant, specifically the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, as GM Authority was the first to report. Estimated output is expected to be 315 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, which will be routed through the GM eight-speed automatic transmission, with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available to put the power to the pavement.

Platform

The next-gen crossover will ride on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform known as C1-2 platform, and will also incorporate the Global B electrical architecture.

Availability

The next-gen 2024 GMC Acadia will be available in North America, as well as select export markets.

Production

Production will take place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan, moving from the GM Spring Hill plant where the second-generation model was produced. Production of the 2024 GMC Acadia is expected to begin in January of 2024.

  1. No word yet on a reveal date? Getting close to body-in-White time if production begins in January. I can’t wait to see it.

  2. Crossover? Looks like a mini-van.

    1. A modern crossover is just a minivan with a more upright grille and no sliding doors.
And people buy lots and lots of them.

  3. Looks like a nice truck going back to the original size which was good not big on a four-cylinder though

  4. I would expect it to have a center screen like the Sierra EV. That interior looks more like the Chevrolet Traverse with the 17 inch screen. GMC seems to be copying ford with the vertical screen and physical volume knob built in.

  5. They should offer the 3.6L V6 as an option or the 2.7L turbo I4. The 2.7 can be down tuned if excessive torque on the drive train is an issue.

  6. Well we may have to find another model as we bought the Acadia for the smaller size.

The 3.6 is going to vanish soon. It is being replaced with the Turbo 4. Not a big deal as the 4 has better low end torque.

    1. MPG will be better and reliability the same or at least better than the early 3.6.

But there are suckers that always assume each will be poorer.

  7. I’m a sucka for trucky crossovers. I really want to see this, and the new Terrain.

  8. Hopefully they took the time to engineer utility into this model so you can fit 4×8 sheet goods in it with seats down, it’s the primary reason I switched to the chrysler pacifica, that and the front seats are bigger and more comfortable than what you see in the traverse, hopefully this will have more comfortable seats like in the first generation.

    1. The big, comfortable seats and the big V6 is what drew me to the previous generation Acadia. If the 2024 Acadia offers both, sign me up.

  9. If it’s a fairly narrow, transverse mounted 4 cylinder only and they’ve ditched the old 3.6L V6…..why have such a massive front overhang?

The side profile looks more like a compromise vehicle. Not a good setup for what they are going to likely charge for it.

  10. tried to make a deal on a 23 acadia this weekend, good thing i checked the sticker and found out it didnt have and wasnt going to get park assist. how id that possible on a 50k vehicle

    Reply
    1. It will get park assist. It is we owed and they have been getting installed for those have been waiting since this Jan.

      1. In this case, it was deleted. Dealer says it won’t get it. Got a friend with a new Traverse that won’t get it

      2. On some of the 2023 units, those features were simply deleted with no retrofit being offered. Our local dealer also has 2023 Acadia units with the front and rear park assist deleted, and the price is adjusted with a full credit for the deleted features. If the window sticker does not specifically state that a retrofit is included for the missing feature, there will be no retrofit.

  11. Strange because I sell them and every Acadia that was missing Park Assist was Reto Fit. Not one Acadia said differently. Sounds like they don’t know what they’re talking about. That’s all.

  12. Steve I think you’re right I used to sell them too I don’t remember any parking assist and I had an 11 14 and a17 Denali

  13. So who is it that is trying to kill off the Acadia? First they downsize it, and then when they begrudgingly restore its rightful size, they take away the 3.6l motor that made it pretty great.

  14. Had 3 Acadias and loved them. When I traded in and got the new downsized one, I brought it back the next morning. I hated it. I hope the revised one is back to the original. Can’t wait to see it and test drive it.

  15. Good morning Donna I had 2011 Denali Acadia 2014 Denali Acadia good trucks no problems bought the 2017 new body style. It lived in the shop for one year until GM bought it back where I went back to Yukon no problems.

  16. You folks are scaring the bejeebers out of me. Just leased a 22 Denali with the six lunger and love it. This is my first Acadia since the one I had in14. If they drop that engine I really would not consider getting another one when my lease is up in 25. Have to go to a different GM brand.
