2024 Chevy Trailblazer Gets New Trailering Package

With production set to officially kick off next month, the upcoming 2024 Chevy Trailblazer is set to introduce a mid-cycle refresh for the Bow Tie brand’s subcompact crossover. Along with the various updates to the exterior and interior, the Trailblazer will also feature a new trailering package.

Tagged with RPO code PDE, the trailering package – which is an LPO, or dealer-installed option – is available for an extra $895 and includes the following (relevant RPO code in parenthesis):

  • Trailer hitch, LPO (SDE)
  • Trailer hitch harness, LPO (RZW)
  • Trailer hitch bezel, LPO (5KE)

As for availability, this trailering package is optional on LS AWD and LT AWD, as well as the RS and Activ trim levels. This new option is not available on LS FWD or LT FWD units.

It’s worth noting that trailering provisions (RPO code V92) are included with the turbocharged 1.3L I4 L3T gasoline engine on LS FWD and LT FWD units, and equipped as standard on LS AWD, LT AWD, RS, and Activ trims.

As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer is powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, as standard. Optional is the aforementioned I3 L3T engine, rated at 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Units equipped with the LIH engine, as well as units with the L3T engine and FWD, are mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while 1.3L engines with optional AWD are mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

Under the skin, the 2024 Trailblazer rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, while production for the North American market will kick off in July 2023 at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

  1. Why spend $795 to still only have a towing capacity of only 1000 lbs? Many GM vehicles are way off the mark with the competition. A Ford Bronco Sport can tow 2000 lbs base, and 2200 lbs with 2.0 Turbo.

    1. The Trailblazer is in a smaller size class than the Bronco Sport and is around $5,000 cheaper.
Ford’s only competition to the Trailblazer was the Ecosport and they stopped selling it last year.

The Bronco Sport’s competition is its platform-mate the Ford Escape and the Chevy Equinox, the latter which outsells both Fords combined.

    2. Did I miss something? I didn’t see any towing specifications…. Probably more like 500 lbs.

  2. Good on GM to do this with the Trailblazer, further pushing the crossover away from the new Trax with more capability and features.

      1. Isn’t this a little underpowered to be towing those things?
Maybe a rowboat, but not much more

  3. Yes definitely small I guess u can tow a really small trailer around if like doing gardening and then some just wish the terrain would have a trailer hitch pkge but with the 1.5 engine very highly unlikely I miss the 2.0 l engine which gave u a 3500 towing capacity!!!
