The 2024 Chevy Malibu will lose a pair of optional convenience packages which were available on the 2023 Chevy Malibu, GM Authority has learned.
Convenience Package 1 (RPO code PDQ) and Convenience Package 2 (RPO code PCM) will not be offered on the 2024 Chevy Malibu sedan.
GM offered Convenience Packages 1 and 2 on the LS and RS trim levels of the 2023 model-year Malibu. Both packages consisted of LPO-level features, meaning the 2023 Chevy Malibu was shipped from the factory without the packages, which were then dealer-installed before delivery to the customer.
Convenience Package 1 consisted of the following elements (with relevant RPO codes in parentheses):
- Remote Start Kit, LPO (S6P)
- Cargo net, LPO (W2D)
Meanwhile, Convenience Package 2 was comprised of the following elements:
- Remote Start Kit, LPO (S6P)
- All-weather floor mats, LPO (VAV)
- Cargo net, LPO (W2D)
The Remote start kit (RPO code S6P) has also disappeared as a standalone option from the 2024 Chevy Malibu sedan’s available feature list.
This option, as well as both Convenience Packages, have become irrelevant, because the 2024 Chevy Malibu is now equipped as standard with the remote vehicle starter system (RPO code BTV) on all trim levels, including the LS, RS, 1LT, and 2RT trims.
The LPO or dealer-installed Cargo net (RPO code W2D) and the all-weather floor mats (RPO code VAV) are still available as standalone options on all trim levels of the 2024 Chevy Malibu.
Besides these changes to its available packages and features, the sedan will lose two exterior paint colors with the rollout of the new model year. The tints in question are the Dark Ash Metallic (paint code G6M) and Riverside Blue Metallic (paint code GKK) hues. One new paint color, Lakeshore Blue Metallic (paint code GXP), will be added to all trim levels as a no-charge option.
As GM Authority exclusively reported, start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 Chevy Malibu is scheduled for June 21st, 2023. The model year is not expected to usher in any significant changes to the vehicle overall. Pricing is expected to remain largely unchanged from the 2023 model year, with no changes beyond a $100 increase in the base LS trim’s MSRP.
As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Malibu is offered with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LFV gasoline engine as is only powertrain option. GM already has plans already has plans to launch the Malibu’s tenth generation with the 2025 model year. The new generation will use the larger D/E variant of the GM VSS-FÂ platform for structure.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Malibu will continue to take place at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City.

Was not aware they still made Malibu . Have seen zero Malibu in nyc . See Camry , accord , civic everywhere
Kia K5 and Nissan Altima are pretty much a common sight everywhere too.
Go to a daily rental lot. You’ll see plenty of them.
When a car late in its lifecycle starts dumping powertrains, features, options and colors it’s a sure sign the product is a daily rental star.
