General Motors has just confirmed its plans to introduce the all-new Chevy Blazer EV and Chevy Equinox EV in Brazil, reaffirming its commitment to lead the mobility of the future in South America.

GM’s South American subsidiary took advantage of the 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV launch in Brazil to announce new details about its upcoming onslaught of all-electric vehicles, confirming that the all-new Chevy Blazer EV and Equinox EV will officially launch in that country in mid-2024. Along with the aforementioned Bolt EUV, both crossovers are among three Chevrolet EVs for South America that the company announced in June 2022.

“Our plan is to begin offering the Blazer EV and Equinox EV around the middle of next year, right after the models launch in the United States,” said President of GM South America, Santiago Chamorro. “The Chevrolet brand has advanced a lot in prestige and admiration among the Brazilian consumer because it has a highly technological product line that is in line with the best we offer in the world,” he added.

With the announcement of the estimated launch timeline, the automaker highlighted that the all-new Chevy Blazer EV will be the first of the next-generation electric vehicles to arrive in Brazil. As such, the Blazer EV is the model that will debut Ultium Battery technology and Ultium Drive motors in the Brazilian market, offering a unique design and performance proposal that will revolutionize the country’s zero-emissions category.

Shortly after the local launch of the Blazer EV, the new Chevy Equinox EV will also arrive in Brazil with a strategic positioning that seeks to expand electric propulsion technology to a greater number of customers. In fact, the Equinox EV is the first model of the more affordable vehicles in the Bow Tie brand’s new global family of electric vehicles and is therefore expected to quickly become the most popular one.

The all-new Chevy Blazer EV and Equinox EV are scheduled to arrive in the middle of next year in Brazil, the first country in South America confirmed to receive Chevrolet’s new crossovers based on GM’s Ultium architecture. Production of both models will begin this year at the Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, which will supply North America and various international markets around the world.

    1. I’m afraid you’re right. They couldn’t make enough Bolts for the US market and then shipped some to Brazil. The logic of that leaves me mystified. I still have a hard time believing that they will be able to build a 30K base Equinox.

  6. My first car was a ’59 Bel Air, 235-6, 3-on-the-tree, only option an am radio. Burned 3 quarts in the 12 miles to town and 3 going back. In gear, parked on a small grade, better use the parking brake. But it always got there.

My current car is a 2012 Sonic LS, NA1.8-4, 5-on-the-floor, stereo, AC, Corvette Racing suspension all standard equipment. Never a recall. By 91k, I’ve replaced oil, filters, tires, wipers, battery, MAF sensor and coolant hoses. Nothing else. No leaks, no brakes, no AC ever touched. Ready for a 2000 mile trip without a worry. Well, the serpentine is talking a little.

Point is, GM does know the basics. So, stick with base models and you will not go wrong.
