The All-New 2024 Chevy Trax Officially Arrives In Mexico

As General Motors first confirmed in October 2022, the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax has now officially arrived in Mexico.

The automaker launched the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax on May 15th in Mexico, reintroducing the successful nameplate with new positioning in the Mexican market. In fact, the second-generation 2024 Trax arrives in the Latin country to compete in the lower part of the C crossover segment, slotting in between the Chevy Captiva and the Blazer in Chevrolet’s extensive local utility vehicle portfolio.

“The all-new Chevrolet Trax offers everything customers are looking for in a utility vehicle, and we are convinced that it will become a favorite in the compact SUV segment,” said Chevrolet Marketing Manager at GM Mexico, Wilberto del Ángel. “Its arrival complements the portfolio of renowned Chevrolet SUVs, made up of Groove, Tracker, Captiva, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban,” he added.

Unlike in the United States and Canada – where it replaced the first-generation model as the Bow Tie brand’s entry-level model – the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax ranks above three other emerging-market-focused crossovers in the Chevrolet utility line in Mexico. As such, the new Trax is positioned in both size and price as a model in the compact segment and is offered in LS, LT and RS trims.

As a global model, the 2024 Chevy Trax adopts the brand’s latest design language and introduces new proportions with a longer, lower and wider body than the previous Trax. Mechanically, the 2024 Trax for Mexico maintains the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH engine offered in the other two North American countries, with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Reservations for the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax are already open in Mexico, and the crossover will arrive at the official Chevrolet dealer network in that country later this month, with units imported from the GM Changwon plant in South Korea. Interestingly, GM Mexico will not offer the range-topping Activ trim level despite the 2024 Trax’s superior positioning in the Mexican market, but will nontheless boast a high level of standard and available features.

Here is the pricing for the three the 2024 Chevy Trax trim levels in Mexico:

  • 2024 Trax LS: 499,900 pesos (about $28,620 USD at current exchange rates)
  • 2024 Trax LT: 541,400 pesos ($30,990 USD)
  • 2024 Trax RS: 574,400 pesos ($32,880 USD)

  1. LS version in Mexico is about +28k US dollars, meanwhile in South Korea the same version costs about 18k.
Shame on GM, not sending Activ and 2RS versions to Mexico, plus increasing drastically the price for the new Trax.
