Supercharged 1971 Chevy Nova Doesn’t Cut Corners: Video

Custom classic cars are a great way to exercise your personal taste and style, and this 1971 Chevy Nova is no exception. The owner didn’t cut corners in building exactly the vehicle that he wanted, and now, we’re getting under the skin and in the cabin with the following feature video.

Once again coming to us from the folks at AutotopiaLA, the feature video is about 29 minutes long and includes walkaround footage, plenty of specs, and some shenanigans on the street as well.

Unsurprisingly, some pretty big names are attached to this build, including RJ Fabrication, which helped to tackle the mechanical bits. According to RJ Fab’s Rob Lindsay, this 1971 Chevy Nova build started as a custom vehicle right from the get-go, with a supercharger, flat-black paint finish, and a small rear tire. However, as the builder points out, there was plenty of room for improvement.

First things first, this 1971 Chevy Nova is now powered by a 418-cubic-inch LS3 V8 engine, once again topped by a supercharger, but now producing roughly 600 horsepower at the wheels. Keeping it shiny side up are suspension components from the Detroit Speed catalog, while a Unisteer rack-and-pinion set up helps to keep it pointed in the right direction. The frame rails were cut in order to fit a wider 345 section tire in the rear and to ensure that all of those supercharged ponies (or at least a lot of them) make it to the pavement.

Output is routed to the rear tires through the 4L80-E automatic transmission, Currie Turn 9 Pro-Touring rear end, and 3.73 gearing. Massive Baer brakes haul it all down.

Quite a bit of work went into the body as well, but much of it is hidden and out of the way, giving the exterior a relatively subtle appearance, all things considered. Customs by Lopez helped with the paint and body, while TMI Interior tackled the cabin.

We’re just scratching the surface of what went into this 1971 Chevy Nova, so hit play for the full rundown:

  1. I had a 1970 Nova for a first car. Not exactly super charged but had a 350 under the hood, good running fast car. Loved that car great memories.

  2. Not flat black more gray. I’ve had several flat black, black suede, and satin black over the years. This one has some reflections in the paint so it can’t be much flat black. I have seen flat black that was dirty look grayish tho.
