The world is filled with opportunities to make bad decisions, and the Chevy Silverado in the following viral video is further proof of that. Recently hitting social media, the video shows the Chevy Silverado 1500 cruising down the highway on three wheels, leaving a long trail of sparks in its wake. And to top it all off, the truck is a rental.
The video appears as though it was shot in Michigan around Detroit, with the camera apparently held by the occupant of an adjacent vehicle. The video opens at night, where we see a highway littered with a few vehicles here and there. Right away, the Chevy Silverado is seen in a nearby lane, with what appears to be a foundry-sized cascade of sparks flowing from around the driver’s side wheel well. The Chevy Silverado is seen lurched over to one side, with the missing wheel setting the body off-balance. Funny enough, the body is covered in U-Haul advertisements, indicating that this poor pickup is a rental.
As if this pickup hasn’t already led a tough life as a U-Haul rental, now it’s getting driven on three wheels, with its front brake caliper quickly disintegrating against the pavement. The fact this thing is driving at all is pretty impressive, given the fact that a missing front wheel would make stopping and steering the pickup difficult at best. Add in the fact that it’s driving at highway speeds, and we’re even more amazed.
Of course, it goes without saying that this sort of thing is ridiculously dangerous and shouldn’t be attempted by anyone. But there’s a few other issues to consider beyond the obvious fact that the Chevy Silverado is likely a nightmare to control with only three wheels. The sparks, for example, could ignite something on the side of the road. At least the hazard lights are on, right?
Of course, we’re curious why this driver decided to drive this Chevy Silverado with only three wheels. Whatever the reason, it’s probably not a good one.
