Kyle Larson, regular Cup Series driver, took control of the No. 10 NASCAR Chevy Camaro for the Xfinity Series race at Darlington Raceway on May 13th, 2023 for a one-off event – and showed the field how it was done by winning in dramatic fashion with a last-lap pass.
Larson and the No. 10 Camaro started behind the No. 20 Toyota TRD Supra of John Hunter Nemechek on the final restart of the race, leaving seven laps between him and the checkered flag. Larson’s No. 10 Camaro and Nemechek’s No. 20 Supra battled hard as the laps wound down, touching several times and bouncing apart. They eventually made hard enough contact that Nemechek’s No. 20 Supra spun, allowing Larson’s No. 10 Camaro to make the pass for the win.
“We had a really, really good car the whole race, and I made a mistake on pit road,” said Larson after the race. “I knew we were going to have time to get to the front if we had a caution. We were picking off cars really fast and had some lane selections work out for me… We were just bouncing off each other a little bit. I don’t know what happened in [Turn] 3. It seemed like he [Nemechek] tried to get behind me to shove me into the corner.”
Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 7 NASCAR Chevy, finished second. The No. 00 Ford Mustang of Cole Custer finished third, followed by the No. 21 Camaro of Austin Hill in fourth and the No. 20 Supra of Nemechek rounded out the top five.
Meanwhile, a 15-car wreck unfolded during Stage 3 when the No. 2 Camaro of Sheldon Creed and the No. 21 Camaro of Austin Hill spun, collecting a majority of the field and eliminating a large chunk of competitors.

Sparse attendance at Darlington. Is that the way it is nowadays or can that be attributed to Mother’s Day weekend?
The stands are never full for the Xfinity races.
Seems you don’t want to be in the lead the last couple laps cause you know you you’re going to get wrecked by the guy behind you regardless of the track or speeds. Short track rubbing is racing everywhere.
