After sharing teaser images of Cadillac’s all-new flagship sedan ahead of its debut, General Motors has just officially launched the next-generation 2024 Cadillac CT6 in China.
The automaker launched the all-new, next-generation Cadillac CT6 during a special event on May 28th in the city of Shanghai to celebrate Cadillac’s first 20 years of presence in the Chinese market. The overhauled 2024 CT6 sedan will lead a complete revamp of the luxury brand’s internal combustion vehicle portfolio in China, concurrent with its ongoing onslaught of zero-emissions models.
“This is a historic moment for Cadillac’s development in China as we progressively expand and upgrade our portfolio to meet the increasingly diverse market needs,” said Vice President of Cadillac China, Tim Heile. “While Cadillac is committed to an all-electric future, products featuring internal combustion engines remain a favorable customer choice in the luxury segment. With modern and bold styling, refined craftsmanship and cutting-edge technologies, the latest Cadillac products offers the transformative user experience that our customers desire,” he added.
The next-generation 2024 Cadillac CT6 is notably launching in the Chinese market with four trim levels named Base, Luxury, Premium Luxury and Platinum. All are finished with brilliant accents highlighting their elegant and distinguished character, further refined by the new evolution of the brand’s iconic Art & Science design language. A Sport variant is expected to launch later.
For its part, the interior design of the new 2024 Cadillac CT6 is crafted with premium materials and adopts the distinctive, massive 33-inch 9K curved OLED display module, which characterizes the next-generation model’s smart and sophisticated cabin. Packed with a comprehensive package of standard features, the 2024 CT6 offers a high-fidelity AKG audio system and enhanced Super Cruise driver assistance technology.
The all-new, next-generation 2024 Cadillac CT6 is now available for sale at Cadillac’s dealer network in China, the only country where the brand’s full-size sedan is manufactured and marketed. Based on an updated variant of the GM Omega platform, the second-generation CT6 keeps the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY powertrain that develops 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, matched to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
Here are the starting prices for all four versions of the all-new 2024 Cadillac CT6 in China:
- 2024 CT6 Base: 359,700 yuan (about $50,860 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 CT6 Luxury: 389,700 yuan ($55,090 USD)
- 2024 CT6 Premium Luxury: 409,700 yuan ($57,900 USD)
- 2024 CT6 Platinum: 469,700 yuan ($66,400 USD)

Yo why only available in Chino. ★U☆S★A☆ NEEDS IT.
A car needs buyers. Clearly this is a business case decision made by GM that considered the manufacturing of an SUV vice a sedan. Sedans sell in fewer numbers and at a lower price. Therefore, since most customers just really do not want a sedan for a profitable price, then SUV’s are manufactured and sold to an appreciative public.
Ma Yi Long:
U S A already had it. Few bought them. This new design would guarantee failure……..again.
Why bother? These people don’t understand why the first gen model left us in the first place.
You’re right.
Even fewer bought the BMW 7, Lexus LS, Infinity, Jag, Genesis, Audi 8. Only in GM world is this not a success…
Cadriver:
All those are built in one factory supplying the whole world. Total sales and production for those cars are far higher than US figures alone. US CT6 production was for North America only. That market did not buy enough of them to support production and pay off the enormous design and development costs that were in the hundreds of millions; much less pay for updates or refreshes beyond what the 2019 model got.
How many new CT6s did you buy?
Bought 1 when we wanted another they didn’t make it.
theres a 25% import tax for china made cars to bring to USA. that killed the ct6 in usa.
Jake:
What ?!?!
The CT6 for the US market were built in Michigan.
That is the most luxurious interior in a Cadillac that I have seen since the early 70’s!
PUT THAT BLACKWING V8 IN IT AND BRING IT HERE!
Agreed, I’m sure the plastic look of the previous interiors lost plenty buyer…myself included.
I love/would buy this new Chinese model. Oh well, back to my BMW which relaced my STS.
These interior pics really show just how awful that screen is. Totally takes away from the rest of the interior which seems to be fantastic.
Can’t say I care for the “me-too”embossed quilting pattern on the seats in the interior photos. Other luxury brands have been doing this for many years now. I’m assuming that is the Platinum version.
Overall the design is conventional. Nice, but I wouldn’t call it ” bold”. Like the interior, it looks dated to me.
But hey, at least they used an actual interior colour that stands out instead of black or grey!
the interior looks incredible! love the seatsand red colour, nice to see some colour, over here all we get is black or cream white!
The first gen model should had this interior or close to it in the first place. The original CT6’s interior looked like a dog compared to this model here.
Essentially, this will be the same or similar platform to the next generation Chevrolet Malibu due in 2025 so all may not be lost for those who are still wanting to purchase a GM sedan. I like this newer design to the CT6 and hope that many of these new design features will migrate over to the next Chevrolet model, but if this platform is larger than the current Malibu, I’d hope that GM may consider bringing back the Impala or Caprice nameplates especially if offered in RWD or AWD variants as opposed to the current FWD only Malibu!
Big Game:
Huh?
The next Malibu will be built on the same platform as the Cadillac CT6? Next year?
You’ve been lied to.
And even if true, which I HIGHLY doubt, it won’t be sold in the US.
Is it possible to order from China?
No and would you really want a 4-cylinder turbo attempting to move this car on the interstates? That engine gets deplorable mileage in the CT4/5 which are compact cars.
I’d first replace the anemic 4 with an LS.
Quick Silver 1: I normally agree with what you say, but this time I can’t.
I had a 2020 CT4 Luxury (base) trim with the 8 speed and 2.0L. It had way more power than I needed and the icing on that cake was that it got me outstanding MPG on the highway. Several things I do is: 1. I drive very efficiently but not slow. Basically I maintain speed with the traffic. 2. I watch the MPG’s on the computer, but do check it manually most of the time.
On that CT4, I would consistently get 35+ on the highway which I found to be quite good. Still not as nice as never stopping for gas in my Bolt now, but very good none the less.
I wanna know that answer too
Cadillac has been dead to me since they canceled this in the US. Wish GM would sell Cadillac off to an entity that can properly manage it.
Under GM’s leadership, Cadillac has been in a constant state of fumble and mismanagement for 40 years now. They react late to market trends, and usually with insufficient product. In the few cases where they actually have good product, they don’t commit to it fully and ignore it while the competitors surpass it. And that’s when they don’t give it a completely half half baked effort to start with (XT4, XT6, XTS).
The CT6 was an excellent product and it was outselling a lot of its competitors. But Cadillac refused to cancel the XTS that was slightly cheaper and came with a more powerful standard engine. So it never got a real chance to be a smash hit, and the two cars cannibalized sales from each other. Then they just pulled the plug on both of them because GM can’t see more than a few inches in front of their own nose.
Cadillac is no better now than it was 10 years ago. Their EV rollout strategy is still a slow moving train wreck. And they are ignoring their ICE vehicles except for the Escalade while demanding that their dealerships redesign and set up charging stations. Meanwhile, the 3 row crossover they’ve begged for us a half baked mess – their CT4 and CT5 models came out 5 years too late. And they still don’t have a Model S competitor.
It’s as if GM resents that that Cadillac dealers exists. I have no idea why dealers haven’t revolted yet. I won’t even get into how they’ve shafted the enthusiasts.
The Blackwing V8 was canceled before a consumer ever got their hands on one. WTF is that? How does GM defend that?
While I agree that the whole Blackwing affair was ridiculous, handled terribly, and made Cadillac the punchline to many jokes, there are up to 1500 CT6-V and CT6 Platinum trims in consumers’ hands, equipped with a legitimate “Blackwing V8”.
Just sayin’…
Everything you said is TRUE…..
I can’t have it in the US, so why should I care? I won’t buy another GM product since all they care about is the Chinese market. Just wait until their “joint-venture” blows up and they attempt to re-establish in the US.
I own a 2017 CT6 Premium AWD, AWS, Super Cruise, a 2020 CT6 Premium Luxury AWD, AWS, Super Cruise and a 2002 Cadillac DHS Northstar V8 with just over 100K miles. These are all great full-sized luxury sedans and not a compact CT4/5 that can hold 4 adults. I have had 2-Cadillac SRX SUV’s and went back to a sedans in less than a year, purchasing Cadillac XTS’s since that was the full-sized Cadillac then.
Cadillac will end up like Oldsmobile, Pontiac and soon Buick. Not every buyer wants a SUV, CUV, pick-up or a mini-van.
IT IS NOT SO AWFUL LIKE A BMW …
This should have been called Escala.
ErinH
I don’t think the Chinese could easily pronounce that word.
Eh SCAR uh
Love my 2017 ct6
Lots of power never afraid to pass someone.
Never had any problems.
I OWN A BEAUTIFUL 2018 CT6 3.0LITER TWIN TURBO V6 PLATINUM MODEL. IT IS TRIPLE COAT RED –A SPECIALITY COLOR SEEN IN THE 2006 XLR-SE). THIS CAR IS A ROCKET WITH PLENTY OF POWER, PLENTY OF ROOM FOR MY 75″ TALL FRAME, AND RIDES LIKE A SMOOTH LOW CEILING ROCKET SEEMINGLY OFF THE GROUND. IT GETS ABOUT 25-30 MPG DEPENDING IF YOU ARE IN SUMMERTIME NEEDING TO USE A/C SYSTEM THEN MORE LIKE 25 MPG. THE TRUNK IS VERY GENEROUS, EASY TO LOAD, AND FASHIONED WITH GREAT UPGRADE CARPET, PADDING, LED LIGHTING TOO.
I WOULD PURCHASE THE GEN-2 CT6 IF THEY STARTED MAKING IT IN NORTH AMERICA AGAIN AND EQUIP IT WITH THE 3.0 TWIN TURBO OR THE 4.2 V8 TWIN TURBO. MY 2018 HAS THE 8 SPEED ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION BUT GEN -2 COMES EQUIPPED WITH THE 10-SPEED DIGITAL AUTO TRANSMISSION.
I HAVE A VERY GOOD SENSE THAT THIS CAR WILL BE PRODUCED AGAIN IN THE USA MAYBE IN LIMITED PRODUCTION STATUS AT FIRST. IT NEEDS A REAL MARKETING CAMPAIGN TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS, AND FOCUS ON THE VERSITILITY, ECONOMY, AND DURABILITY OF THIS BEAUTIFUL CADDY SEDAN.
ALL OF US CADDY AFFICIANADOS WILL HAVE TO WAIT LONGER BECAUSE THE CURRENT BUSINESS CLIIMATE IS CAVORTING TO “NON-AMERICANS CITIZENS” NOW. BUT WHEN LEADERSHIP BECOMES VERY PRO BUSINESS AGAIN SOON, I SUSPECT PRESSURE ON GM/CADILLAC WILL COME IN A BIG WAVE TO BRING HOME THIS LUXURY CAR’S PRODUCTION TO SOME PLACE IN NORTH AMERICA.
FOR NOW YOU WILL SPEND 10’S OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS MORE FOR THE ESCALADE ESV IF YOU WANT THE LARGE STYLE CADILLAC RIDE. CT6 HAD A MUCH BETTER PRICE POINT AND WAS LOADED WITH EQUIPMENT, MODERN FEATURES, AND SAFETY FEATURES TOO. PLUS YOU CANNOT FIND ANOTHER SEMI-AUTONOMOUS DRIVING AND STEERING SYSTEM AS FULL PROOF, AND EXCELLENT AS “SUPER CRUISE” BY GM AND CADILLAC.
I wanted a CT6 when I retired. But they stopped making them. So I bought a 2017 with 26000 miles on it. I keep it in the garage and drive it on weekend. IT is a platinum. I have about 10 more years till I retire. But she is a cream puff. I have drove Caddilac all my life. From a 78 to the 2017 CT6 platinum.
shame on you GM. the most luxurious brand flagship car not being sold in the USA 😡
