NASCAR Chevy Trucks Dominate Top 10 Qualifying Darlington May 2023

While they missed out on nabbing the pole position, the NASCAR Chevy Truck Series teams performed well during qualifying at Darlington Raceway on May 12th, 2023. In fact, seven of the top 10 starting positions are held by Chevy Silverado RST race trucks.
The No. 23 Silverado RST of Grant Enfinger will start in second place, having posted a time of 29.322 seconds at 167.71 mph around the 1.366-mile asphalt oval. By comparison, polesitter Corey Heim threw the No. 11 Toyota TRD Tundra for a lap of 29.263 seconds at 168.048 mph, outperforming the No. 23 Silverado of Enfinger.
However, the rest of the top five starting positions belong to Silverado race trucks. The No. 2 Silverado of Nick Sanchez will start third, followed by the No. 19 Silverado of Nick Sanchez in fourth. Jake Garcia’s No. 35 NASCAR Chevy truck will start fifth, while the No. 52 Tundra of Stewart Friesen will break up The Bow Tie party by starting sixth. Matt DiBenedetto posted the seventh-fastest lap during qualifying, and William Byron, regular Cup Series driver of the No. 24 Chevy Camaro ZL1, will start the No. 51 Silverado from the eighth position. The No. 98 Ford F-150 of Ty Majeski is all by himself in ninth position, and finally, the No. 4 NASCAR Chevy of Chase Purdy will take the green flag from 10th.
The green flag at Darlington will drop at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, May 12th, marking the first of three “Throwback Weekend” races scheduled for this weekend.
