Lexus TX, Upcoming Cadillac XT6 Rival, Caught Testing: Photos

Lexus is stepping into the three-row large luxury crossover space with the new Lexus TX. Poised to drop in for the 2024 model year, the Lexus TX will rival the Cadillac XT6 and Buick Enclave from the GM camp. Now, the upcoming 2024 Lexus TX was just spotted testing as a camo-clad prototype.

The new Lexus TX testing as a prototype.

Although this camouflaged prototype is covered in heavy vinyl that obscure the styling bits underneath, there are still a few interesting bits to point out, starting with the high-mounted lighting elements pushed into the corners of the front fascia. Below the main headlights, we see small, round fog lights, while large, multi-spoke alloy wheels roll in the corners. The profile also reveals a large body and square proportions, plus a large rear hatch section.

Lexus teased the 2024 Lexus TX last week, releasing a single close-cropped image showing the crossover’s driver-side rear quarter panel and revealing a floating-roof design, multi-spoke wheels, and wrap-around taillight housings.

The 2024 Lexus TX will serve as an indirect replacement for the Lexus RXL, the latter of which was the extended-length, three-row variant of the last-generation Lexus RX, and was discontinued after the 2022 model year. By comparison, the RXL offered constrained room compared to the upcoming Lexus TX.

The Lexus TX will also be related to the upcoming Toyota Grand Highlander, and will ride on the same underlying architecture, namely the TNGA-K platform. In addition, we expect the Lexus TX to cradle the same powertrain as the Toyota Grand Highlander, specifically the iForce / Hybrid Max 2.4L gasoline engine. Output will range up to 362 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, with all-wheel drive equipped as standard. To note, the Grand Highlander can sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds, and offers a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

It’s also worth noting that Lexus is currently the reigning champ in the segment below the Cadillac XT6 where the XT5 plays. In addition, Lexus also offers the GX, which will be in the same general space as the new 2024 Lexus TX, albeit with a body-on-frame design.

  1. The XT6 is more Chevy than Caddy…
I seriously doubt any rival luxury makes are benchmarking that vehicle.

    1. It obviously doesn’t matter…
The RX was more Toyota (Highlander/Harrier) than Lexus. This didn’t prevent Lexus from having the best seller in America (RX).

The TX will be more Toyota (Grand Highlander) than Lexus. It also won’t prevent Lexus from dominating.

Having Chevy roots shouldn’t prevent Cadillac from winning here. The difference is marketing.

  2. I fail to understand why anyone would purchase a Caddy..Caddy just a re badge Chevy..I use rental vehicles often in my job travels and find Chevy has better interior than most Caddys.

      Said no one, ever.

Show me one example where this is the case in both lineups.

  3. If recent history is repeated, this test mule looks better than the production model will.

  4. I hope the back end of this doesn’t look cheap like the Grand Highlander does
