SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), General Motors’ second joint venture in China, has just officially revealed the upcoming Baojun Yep Pickup – a brand-new variant of Baojun’s all-electric mini off-roader.
The automaker revealed the first official images of the upcoming Baojun Yep Pickup as the next member of its portfolio of zero-emission small vehicles in China, introducing the second body style of the all-new Baojun Yep EV that made its global debut in February in the Asian country. Remarkably, SGMW managed to keep the new variant under wraps, and reveal the Baojun Yep Pickup before it was leaked by Chinese authorities or media.
The upcoming Baojun Yep Pickup is an eye-catching two-door, two-seat pure electric mini truck that will go on to establish its own segment in the automotive market by becoming the first two-passenger electric mini pickup worldwide. While the first official images display it in show-car format – just like the crossover variant – the Baojun Yep Pickup will hit production lines in the near future.
Aesthetically, the upcoming Baojun Yep Pickup features the same design language with retro and modern styling elements of the original crossover model, including the distinctive front end featuring a horizontal acrylic panel and rounded-edge headlamps with an individual eight-module LED light signature. In fact, the small truck maintains the same front fascia, doors, fenders, bumpers and lower parts of the crossover.
The Baojun Yep Pickup’s distinction naturally starts from the B-pillar rearward, where the roofline is interrupted and includes a small cargo box with functional elements that give it an even more adventurous appearance. In particular, the bed features plastic-coated metal roll bars that reinforce the overall body structure and protect the rear glass, as well as a very robust tailgate that houses the spare wheel.
The upcoming Baojun Yep Pickup represents the first all-electric mini truck manufactured by SGMW and will make its global debut over the next few months in China, the only country where the Baojun brand is marketed. It is expected that information about measurements, equipment, powertrain and all specific details of this new model will be revealed gradually as the launch date in the Chinese market approaches.

Seems like the article was copied verbatim from an sgmw press release. Anyhow, the product appears to be spectacularly capable, on par with a 3500 HD Duramax.
I wonder if this concept is something we may see in NA, a smaller electric 2 dr pickup and SUV
This is so cute
Let’s see. We are loading up our haul at Costco and it starts pouring rain. Which do I take home DRY: the wife or the groceries? Hmmm. Maybe the wife won’t mind getting soaked in a “bed-ride”. (Certainly didn’t bother her last night. Just sayin’.)
Pretty sure they don’t have Costco in these undeveloped countries. Speaking from a true American perspective!
Costco is definitely in China. Also, I don’t think people have considered China undeveloped for at least a decade.
You are totally missing the point the poster was trying to make. “Costco” does not mean “Costco”… it means ANY kind of store a person buys things from and brings them home.
