Production of the GMC Hummer EV first got under way in October of the 2021 calendar year and has since steadily increased, save for a production pause in December of 2022 and January of 2023. Now, GM Authority has learned that GMC Hummer EV production increased considerably this past April, with more than 3,000 units produced over the course of the 2023 calendar year.
According to sources, 1,800 units of the GMC Hummer EV were produced in April of 2023, the highest monthly production figure since the all-electric off-roader first rolled off the line in 2021.
With 1,800 units produced in April of 2023, nearly 3,300 units of the GMC Hummer EV have been produced thus far over the course of the 2023 calendar year. The latest production numbers bring total GMC Hummer EV production since October of 2021 to 8,300 units.
As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV is produced at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, previously known as the Detroit-Hamtramck facility. Check out the table below for a month-by-month breakdown of GMC Hummer EV production since 2021. Note that production was paused in December of 2022 and January of 2023 to allow for the completion of upgrades at the Factory Zero plant for the production of the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV all-electric pickups:
Like the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV, the GMC Hummer EV rides on the GM BT1 platform. GM Ultium batteries supply power to GM Ultium Drive motors for motivation, with output ranging between 625 horsepower and 1,000 horsepower, depending on the trim level and configuration.
Production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV is already under way. Meanwhile, production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is expected to begin later in June, starting with the 3X trim level, followed by the 2 and 2X trim levels at a later date.
