GMC Hummer EV Production Picks Up In April 2023

Production of the GMC Hummer EV first got under way in October of the 2021 calendar year and has since steadily increased, save for a production pause in December of 2022 and January of 2023. Now, GM Authority has learned that GMC Hummer EV production increased considerably this past April, with more than 3,000 units produced over the course of the 2023 calendar year.

According to sources, 1,800 units of the GMC Hummer EV were produced in April of 2023, the highest monthly production figure since the all-electric off-roader first rolled off the line in 2021.

Production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV is already under way. Meanwhile, production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is expected to begin later in June, starting with the 3X trim level, followed by the 2 and 2X trim levels at a later date.

  2. That’s the key question, where are these going because you don’t see in any on North American roads……..let me guess.

How do we see the North American registration numbers that the OEMs get?

    1. That’s easy.

They’re going to people who are flipping them for double the price and not driving them.

  3. “over the course of the 2023 calendar year”
    – It’s May 2023, why are we saying “over the course of the 2023”???

Now on to the “story” adding the production numbers as they are claimed here; through 2022 GM has MADE 5,030.

But only SOLD 855 – Does that pass the “smell test”???

  5. Although it is good news that 18 MONTHS after launch, production is starting to increase. However, lets not assume production equals sales. According to the chart above, the number of units produced in November and December of 2021 was 125. However, this chart posted by GM Authority shows just 1 unit was actually sold in 2021. https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gmc/gmc-hummer-ev/gmc-hummer-ev-sales-numbers/ I’m going to assume that the other 124 units being held for quality issues. The same production/sales disconnect occurs all through 2022. So it seems they can build some, but many units are held because of quality or other issues, such as not all parts for the vehicle are available to complete the build. The same issues have been true for the Lyric. A fair number have been built, but many have been held back to to significant quality issues.

  6. Saw only 2 Hummer EVs since they were first delivered whereas I’ve seen many Rivian R1Ts and Ford Lightnings in my area of NOVA. Wut a joke.

  7. Let’s see if gm can keep monthly output above 1800 and do it consistently
Is the slow pace a supply issue?
    Quality issue?

    That is one slow line?
