Dealer retrofits are currently under way for the front and rear park assist feature (RPO code UD5) omitted from certain units of the 2022 and 2023 GMC Acadia at the time of their production.
Some units of the 2022 GMC Acadia and 2023 GMC Acadia were built without the front and rear parking assist they were supposed to be equipped with. The microchip shortage and widespread disruption of supply chains in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic made necessary components unavailable and caused the constraint.
Constraint of the front and rear parking assist feature started on December 20th, 2021 for the GMC Acadia, initially affecting the 2022 model year and later involving the 2023 model year as well.
Front and rear parking assist is normally a standard feature on all trim levels of the 2022 and 2023 GMC Acadia, including the SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims. GM has not specified how many vehicles in total have been affected by the constraint.
Limited availability of the front and rear parking assist feature affected several other GMC models simultaneously. These included 2022 and 2023 model-year units of the GMC Sierra 1500 Limited and GMC Sierra HD. Additionally, the Rear Park Assist feature was placed under constraint for the GMC Canyon, with the degree of constraint varying by trim level.
GM instructs its dealerships to verify that specific units of the 2022 and 2023 model year GMC Acadia are part of the retrofit program before beginning inspection or repairs. Affected units are marked as “Open” on the Investigate Vehicle History screen, accessible through GM’s Global Warranty Management system.
Buyers of affected GMC Acadia vehicles were informed about the front and rear park assist constraint at the time of purchase, as well as future availability of the retrofit program. Affected Acadia units were also marked with the RPO code 00Z printed on their window sticker.
The retrofit is carried out free of charge to the GMC Acadia owner. Dealership personnel inspect the Acadia to verify the front and rear park assist feature is non-functional, then replace the original Parking Assist Module with a new, operational Parking Assist Module.
Some vehicles may also require reprogramming of the instrument cluster or the active safety control module in order to render the front and rear park assist feature correctly functional after the retrofit.
GMC Acadia owners with additional questions or concerns can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, referencing GM customer satisfaction program number N222375791.
The customer satisfaction program and retrofit will continue to be available through May 31st, 2026.
