GM To Fix 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Body Wiring Harness Contact Issue

GM has issued a service bulletin for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq regarding certain units in which the main body wiring harness (MBWH) may be abraded by scraping against a stud.

GM notes that only 192 units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq are believed to be affected. Dealers should not order the necessary repair components as shelf stock, but only when the presence of an affected vehicle in need of the recommended fix is verified.

The condition is caused by the main body wiring harness coming in contact with a mounting stud inside the vehicle’s structure. GM does not specify the potential hazards resulting from abrasion of the wiring harness because of contact with the stud.

Dealer service personnel can verify whether a 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is affected by checking its status in the GM Global Warranty Management system. Affected units will be marked as “Open” on the Investigate Vehicle History screen.

The fix recommended in the service update should be applied both to 2023 Cadillac Lyriq units in dealer inventory and to Lyriqs brought to the dealership by their owner for any reason. The repair is carried out free of charge to the vehicle owner.

The fix for affected 2023 Cadillac Lyriq units is installation of a body harness stud clip. The clip is attached to the main body wiring harness and prevents the harness from contacting the mounting stud. Installation of the clip involves removing body panels from the Cadillac Lyriq and requires an average of 54 minutes labor for completion.

The repair should only be carried out by a properly trained technician at a GM dealership that has met EV Readiness Requirements. In addition, in Canada, only dealers with the correct training and tools specific to the Cadillac Lyriq are authorized to carry out the repair.

The service bulletin availability expires at the end of the affected 2023 Cadillac Lyriq unit’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period. Owners who have questions regarding the retrofit can call Cadillac‘s customer service number, referencing the GM customer satisfaction program number below.

  1. I’m really starting to consider getting the Equinox AWD as a roundabout and first EV test car instead of the Lyriq….probably a lot lower insurance rate and about the same range and charging times. Towing is only 1500 but my truck can handle that issue. It’s probably 25K cheaper at least so I won’t be as picky over issues that may arise. I think Evs are going to come down fast in a year or two since all manufacturers will be competing for sales and battery developement is only going to get better.

  2. Just saw GM annouce 40K Corvette builds so far this year….and we probably do not even have 4K total of all Lyriqs built in the US.

  3. I just bought my 2023 Cadillac Lyriq May 7, 2023. It still ad 200+ miles left and went completely dead. My Cadillac Dealer made me tow it to a Chevrolet Dealer because in my home town there are no Cadillac dealers. The Chev dealer can’t seem to fix it. I’m in a panic mode and about to get an attorney involved. Any suggestions
