GM Expanding Chevrolet EV Dealer Network In Mexico

In anticipation of the next and most ambitious all-electric vehicle push in the Bow Tie brand’s history, General Motors has just announced an expansion of the Chevrolet EV dealer network in Mexico.

The automaker’s Mexican subsidiary is moving forward with its strategy to achieve a zero-emissions future by expanding the Chevrolet EV dealer network in the Latin country, which plays an important role in the manufacture of several of the company’s upcoming electric vehicles, and represents one of the emerging markets with the greatest potential for the development of zero-emission technology.

“We are excited to reach more and more locations in our country, as a reflection of the advancement of electromobility in Mexico,” said Vice President of Sales, Service and Marketing of GM Mexico, Héctor Villarreal. “In this sense, our Chevrolet brand will be able to offer more customers the best in technology, safety and design that have characterized us for more than 87 years in the market, now with electric cars,” he added.

The recent expansion increased the Chevrolet EV dealer network to 19 points of sales and service that are specialized in electric vehicles throughout the Mexican territory. These are located in the main cities of the country such as Mexico City and the Metropolitan Area, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Puebla, Querétaro, Toluca, León, Cancún, Tijuana, Morelia, Culiacán and Cuernavaca.

As such, the increasing number of Chevrolet EV stores in Mexico allows GM to advance its strategy of bringing electrification to more and more locations across the country and reinforces the expectation of achieving complete national coverage in the medium term. The company’s plan is to progressively increase the store count as the charging infrastructure develops, and as supply and demand for zero-emission vehicles shifts in the Mexican market.

Although the Chevrolet EV lineup in Mexico currently only includes the Chevy Bolt EUV, GM has confirmed that during the 2024 calendar year, it will launch the all-new Chevy Blazer EV and Chevy Equinox EV in the country. Both all-electric crossovers are based on Ultium battery and Ultium Drive motor technology, with production scheduled to begin in the second half of this year at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant, which will supply all of North America and major international markets.

  1. Shouldn’t ‘EV’ be ‘VE’ in Mexico?
