GM Defense And Black Sage Sign Agreement To Create ISV C-UAS Vehicle

GM Defense and Black Sage Technologies – a provider of Counter Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) solutions – have announced a new agreement to develop an Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) C-UAS vehicle.

With a showcase currently scheduled to debut at the 2023 Canadian Association of Defense and Security Industries (CANSEC) expo, GM Defense will exhibit a four-seat ISV Multi-Mission and Logistics vehicle equipped with Black Sage’s Sawtooth C-UAS. This technology features open architecture software and hardware platforms that provide data fusion, automated target recognition, threat evaluation, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance functionality.

“We understand how critical optionality is for our customers, who look for ways to outmaneuver increasingly complex threats from around the globe,” GM Defense President Steve duMont was quoted as saying. “Our teaming agreement with Black Sage helps us offer greater flexibility to warfighters while continuing to develop mobility solutions that perform in diverse environments. This collaboration enables GM Defense and Black Sage to leverage the synergies of our respective companies, extend battlefield capabilities and showcase solutions that can drive mission readiness.”

In addition, the C-UAS solution will offer both kinetic and non-kinetic effectors that utilize Black Sage’s innovative Command and Control System, DefenseOS.

“We are excited to partner with GM Defense to advance our On-the-Move C-UAS solution,” Black Sage President Ann Wood was quoted as saying. “GM Defense’s expertise in vehicle design and manufacturing, combined with our experience in C-UAS technology, will allow us to deliver a solution that is both effective and reliable. This agreement is a significant milestone in our efforts to provide our customers with the best possible protection against the growing threat of unmanned aerial systems.”

Scheduled to take place from May 31st to June 1st, visitors are encouraged to stop by the GM Defense booth 101 at the EY Centre in Ottawa, Canada during CANSEC, or visit www.gmdefensellc.com.

  1. Good to see GM Defense also developing non vehicular combat systems, which bodes well for them to not get boxed in just one field. Now how about revamping ACDelco or a new startup to begin making chips instead of depending on foreign countries?

  2. By 2030 they expect GM defense to earn 1 billion dollars. This plus Brightdrop should make Wall Street happy.
GM stock is undervalued. The company would probably be worth more broken up with Cruise, Brightdrop, Ultium as an architecture/powertrain vendor.
I’m buying cheap GM stock now and waiting for it to rise. I don’t love Barra’s car decisions, but she’s built an entirely new, high quality GM that Wall Street ignores. GM build quality matches the Japanese and these new ventures should pay off. The days of discounted Pontiac & bad electrical systems are over
