General Motors’ SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture in China has just revealed the interior design of the all-new 2023 Baojun Yep EV, the zero-emission mini crossover that made its world debut earlier this year.
The automaker revealed the first official images of the cabin and interior design of the all-new Baojun Yep EV just weeks before the vehicle’s launch in China, scheduled for later this month. In fact, the Yep EV has registered a high interest among the target audience in the Asian country and has the potential to considerably increase sales of the Baojun brand, which has gone almost three years without launching an all-new vehicle.
In particular, SGMW announced that the all-new 2023 Baojun Yep EV debuts a new interior design language dubbed “Joy Box” characterized by a minimalist dashboard with a horizontal layout and multiple rectangular elements. This includes the brand’s central module with two 10.25-inch screens for the driver instrument panel and the infotainment system, as well as rectangular air vents with rounded edges.
The small four-passenger cabin of the all-new 2023 Baojun Yep EV will be available in two interior color schemes called “Monologue” and “Self Black” that will respectively include a light and dark overall finish. The new three-spoke steering wheel design stands out, as does a passenger-side, dash-mounted grab bar on which Baojun affirms that various accessories can be hung, such as a smartphone holder or decorative elements.
In addition, a fully flat floor combined with the dash and floating center console design maximize the interior space of the 2023 Baojun Yep EV within its 133.1-inch-long, 66.3-inch-wide, and 67.7-inch-high body, while riding on an 83-inch wheelbase. The Baojun Yep also has multiple smart storage spaces throughout the cabin, as well as a special storage tray inside the front trunk.
The all-new 2023 Baojun Yep EV is expected to be officially launched in China during a special event on May 25th, when the smallest all-electric utility vehicle ever made by GM is also scheduled to go on sale in the Asian country. In fact, the Yep EV will debut a new category of zero-emission small crossovers, equipped as standard with rear-wheel drive and a single motor fed by a 28.1 kWh battery pack.
