Debuting last July, the all-new, third-generation 2023 Chevy Colorado arrives featuring a new exterior, a new powertrain, plenty of on-board technology, and a completely revised interior. The new model rides on an updated platform, resulting in a more refined truck that is also more capable off-road. Under the hood resides one of two powertrains – the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine as well as the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine in Turbo Plus and Turbo High Output configurations. The new powerplants are mated to a new-generation eight-speed automatic transmission, which is vastly improved compared to the preceding GM eight-speed automatic, though a few issues still remain.

The 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison will debut on May 31st and be offered as a standalone trim level rather than as a package.

The online configurator tool is live for the 2023 Colorado, and still live for the 2022 Colorado.

  2. GM needs to get their head in the game.

  3. Is this some type of cruel joke?

    1. I sure seems like it. Doesn’t make any sense at all. What a way to run a business. Driving business to the competition.

  4. I’ve missed finance incentives for the last three months waiting for one that has been built and sits in a field. Having a VIN for the truck is still “In Transit.”

    1. Except similar to the details above, finance incentives are only associated with 2022 models. So you haven’t been missing out on the 2023 you ordered.

      1. I think the real issue is that there are many of us that have been waiting on trucks that have been built for more than 3 months!! There was a time you could order a new truck and have it in 6 weeks you my be too young to remember those days.

        Reply
        1. The only issue is you had to be the first to get the new version of the 2023 Colorado. A model that went into production less than 4 months ago and wasn’t EPA approved for sale less than 3 months ago.

There are still parts shortages, there are shipping delays. Grow some patience! You’ll get the truck you ordered!

Or, please explain why you’re entitled to a truck before anyone else?

          1. Waiting on EPA approval after the truck is in production would have gotten me fired. I would say GM was late getting the proper paper work in.

            Reply
            1. Or GM put it in as normal and the EPA was backed up or shorthanded. The whiners try and put it on GM like it is their fault and they are doing this on purpose, trust me they want you to have that truck in your hands and money in theirs. You ordered the truck during these trying times and had to have the first one of a new model at that, it is on you the buyer…

          2. Cause I need it

        2. The Trucks are being shipped out little by little apparently, I got a first look at two 2023 GMC Canyon Denali Trim models that just hit the dealer out here in Columbus, GA. , they are nice, I believe one them have sold already.

    2. Sharp truck but a 9k mark up for a few roll bars. Only other downfalls are a 4 cylinder and the shifter on the right side of column.

  5. When will GM Authority tell us about the hail storm near St. Louis that hit thousands of trucks?

    1. Good call

  6. My salesman called me on Saturday about my Denali.
He had received a list of Vin numbers that in fact had hail damage. Fortunately, mine was not on the list, but it still sits in Wentzville. Built in February supposed to have shipped, but hasn’t moved.
There is a list of damaged vehicles.
You might check with your salesperson.

    1. Awesome thanks for the update. I know a lot of people are really concerned with these long weights but that’s good news to hear. At least there is a reason, and now the remedy can be solved

  7. Well I finally saw 2 Denali Canyons at dealer on Saturday, both already sold. One black and one Red, the red one was very sharp. That may have to be my color choice. So they are getting just slowly.

GM use to have its own Semi’s to ship then stopped and I believe they are going to get their own fleet again. But everyone needs to remember there is a big shortage of Truck drivers. Every trucking place near me have a lot of help wanted signs. Seems like a lot of them retired during Covid

    1. you are correct Joe. Logistics is the problem. Meanwhile, a dealer near me has 2 on the lot. both available. a Z-71 and a 2 LT. so they are trickling in.

    2. A lot of the young people today just don’t want to work and make decent wages. Maybe some immigrants could be trained as truck drivers.

    3. I’ve seen a handful of the new Colorados show up at dealers here. I’ve yet to see a new Canyon in the flesh.

    1. You had to be the first and look what that got you… Truck will be fine, they are designed to be outside. Seals will be fine, everything will work outside of the redesign quirks/features.

      2. Common sense which apparently you don’t have any it’s amazing wherever you go you’re an apologist for GM AND THEN cut everyone down for just wanting a vehicle that they’re paying for and don’t like the fact they’re being held hostage by GM why don’t you go and play in another sandbox

  9. I’ve leased either Colorado’s, Canyon’s, or Sonoma’s for the past 30 years. Every year they’ve gone up in price slightly as expected, but still not too bad, the monthly lease payments were still reasonable. My latest Colorado I currently have is a 2020 Colorado Crew Cab 4×4 I’ve been leasing for $315mo, in which the lease is ending next week on June1st. Looking at exactly the same new 2023 Colorado Crew Cab 4×4, can’t find anything with a payment under $600!!! Almost double my current lease. Ridiculous. I work for GM, I get all the discounts and Lease Loyalty and now for the first time, I can’t afford a vehicle I help design. GM has priced me right out of range of affordability of the vehicle I’ve loved and been loyal to for over 30 years.

    1. GM apparently is shooting them selves in the foot with their business practices. There doesn’t seem to be these issues with Ford or Dodge, or am I mistaken?
