Cadillac Lyriq Earns Spot On 2023 Wards 10 Best Interiors And UX Winners List

Making its formal introduction for the 2023 model year, the Cadillac Lyriq arrives as the very-first all-electric production model to wear the Cadillac crest. Naturally, such an important vehicle presents an equally noteworthy design, both inside and out. Now, the Cadillac Lyriq has been recognized with a spot on the 2023 Wards 10 Best Interiors and UX list.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq interior.

“For automotive interior and user-experience technology enthusiasts, there’s perhaps been no better era to be alive,” says Wards editor and 10 Best Interiors and UX judge, Christie Schweinsberg. “The creative design cues we’re witnessing are bold and refreshing, and trim materials are unique and eye-catching.”

Judges evaluated each of the 21 nominees firsthand in a daily driving experience earlier in the year. Winners were selected on interior design, materials quality, fit-and-finish, comfort, and tech features. Wards highlighted vehicles that presented “outside-the-box design cues and technologies,” including electrically powered doors, large high-resolution displays, unique gear selectors, interesting graphics, and attractive ambient lighting.

With regard to infotainment, Schweinsberg says that the user experience is massively improved over past models, with less clutter and streamlined navigation, plus improved voice recognition. Schweinsberg also highlighted the “ease of connecting a phone to utilize wireless Apple CarPlay.” Notably, GM has elected to move away from offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its future EVs in lieu of a new proprietary system developed with Google.

The Cadillac Lyriq is one of six battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) on this year’s Wards 10 Best list, up one from the five BEVs that populated the list last year. This year’s winners also include the BMW i7, Ford F-150 Lightning, Genesis GV60, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Wagoneer L, Kia Sportage Hybrid, Land Rover Range Rover, and Nissan Ariya. Another General Motors model, the GMC Hummer EV, was also a winner this year.

As a reminder, the Cadillac Lyriq features GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, and rides on the GM BEV3 platform. Production takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

Beautiful dash!! And the map display is really awesome.
Saw the Lyric in person at the Cleveland Auto Show and the exterior styling was admired by those attending. The front grille lighting is really sharp.

i do not mind if many said that the interior is so wonderful, for me it is quite lower than what i am expecting for a luxurious car; should be a napa leather seat both perforated, ventilated, and heated with a choice of color such as tan, light brown, red, : at this price, i am not expecting to get a car with a dark interior like for the men in black, CIA, FBI or NSA; i want something classy and pleasant to the eyes, my car that is 1970 has a gray dash and kind of white perforated napa leather seat that even after all those years do not show a trace of wearing. to this, there are some brown appliques and other colors.

Agreed.. I FINALLY received (after almost a year wait) my 2023 LUXURY LYRIQ with a FORCED color change to optional $625 plus sales tax BLACK (which gets constantly dirty by the way), since they have been out of Blue Paint for a year now..

GM Authority FINALLY found out that, rather than having 4 colors available for the 2023’s, they made a few Silvers (the only non-extra-cost color), 7 $1225 Pearlescent Whites, and > Count ’em > FOUR Opulent Blue Metalics – the color on my order. I was guessing they made 2 of them so I was close when the official number was 4.

The seats on the LYRIQ are OKAY, – but I think the very standard CLOTH seats on my CHEAPIE 2022 BOLT EUV are the more comfortable. Lyriq has a ‘variable level’ massage which is BARELY detectable on the ‘Most Aggressive’ setting… What a waste….

I consider the car to be a 21st century version of Ford’s late 1950’s EDSAL Catastrophe. The car is HANDS DOWN the most DIFFICULT car to drive I have ever seen. The non-defeatable ‘Choreographed’ Lighting in my attached garage constantly does light shows through the garage door windows for all the neighbors, and it only uses up 2 miles of range of the battery per day !!! This is because if you can walk still in your home, you are constantly getting closer or further from your car and so the car is constantly doing ‘arrival’ and ‘departure’ light shows.

That isn’t the only goofy thing…. The Pedestrian Alert under 25 mph, – tolerable in every other GM plug-in, makes too much of a Racket INSIDE the car… It is loud enough I am sure this is coming from the speakers inside the car, not outside.

The alert is semi useable I guess, but I haven’t had that many people walking around inside a moving car, ever. For those who care, the SUPER INNOVATION is that it now changes pitch between rolling and stopped (only 2 fixed pitches).

It would take much too long to describe how difficult the car is to drive. Nothing is remotely intuitive.

As far as looks go, this is the best part. I never thought tt would win any Beauty Contests, but that was alright with me, seeing as I knew the car looked like a mid 1950’s Chrysler, a look I am OKAY with.

Bill: I’m supposed to get the blue 2023 as well. A call to GM confirmed that, but there was no timetable as to WHEN. Based on your post, I’m not in that much of a hurry.

          Dale:

Better get one of the FOUR Blue’s from them USED. No colors available until 2024… I had the choice of waiting an additional 9 months for a 2024 or taking the $625 plus tax optional FORCED BLACK, my car’s only optional extra. 2023s stop being manufactured in a few days, 2024s after that.

So pick Nappa leather. It is available. Or pick other interior colours. They are also available. Tell me you posted without a few seconds research without actually saying it.

Off to a rough production start. We will see how buyers rate it after they drive it a few thousand miles. So much at stake for gm.

I’ve never seen one of these in the wild. Are they still very low rate production?
