Cadillac Gearing Up To Launch Three New Vehicles In China

Cadillac is preparing to completely renew its model portfolio in China and has just announced the launch of three vehicles in the Asian country before the end of this month.

GM’s luxury brand is accelerating the renewal of its portfolio with the simultaneous launch of the all-new 2024 Cadillac CT6, the all-new 2024 Cadillac GT4 and the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 in China, through a special event scheduled for May 28th in the city of Shanghai. These three new vehicles arrive as Cadillac celebrates its 20th anniversary in the Chinese market.

In fact, the three new vehicles were scheduled to launch on the same day to mark Cadillac’s 20th anniversary in China, where it has achieved a healthy level of success by establishing itself as the leading alternative luxury brand to more established rivals Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. As such, the new 2024 Cadillac CT6, GT4 and XT4 will give the brand new impetus in the domestic Chinese market.

The automaker claims that the second-generation, 2024 Cadillac CT6, all-new GT4 and refreshed XT4 will “standardize” the brand’s latest advancements, including a new evolution of the Art & Science design language as well as groundbreaking technologies for the first time in internal combustion models. All three vehicles embrace the upcoming interpretation of Cadillac’s iconic vertical lighting signature, as well as Cadillac’s highly refined 33-inch curved 9K display that raises the bar on sophistication.

The protagonist of this renewal will be the all-new 2024 Cadillac CT6, which introduces the second generation of the sedan that further raises its luxury quotient. It’s followed by the all-new 2024 Cadillac GT4 as the next member of the brand’s crossover lineup, with a new low-roof body style aimed at younger customers. Meanwhile, the updated 2024 Cadillac XT4 improves its offer with a bold design and more features.

The all-new 2024 Cadillac CT6, 2024 Cadillac GT4 and 2024 Cadillac XT4 will launch simultaneously on May 28th in China and are expected to be available for sale shortly thereafter, starting with the full-size sedan. Full details about the specific features and configurations of each of the models for the Chinese market will be revealed at the upcoming launch event.

  2. The CT6 was the best hybrid sedan made in the U.S. but Cadillac dropped it. Bring it back!

    1. Except for the fact it was made in China.

  4. There is still a market for a full-sized luxury sedan in the US! Bring back the CT6! Not a 4 cylinder turbo disaster, but at least the V6 or hell, drop in the Blackwing since it was developed for the CT6 anyway. I have 2, a 2017 and a 2020. Many buyers are running to other makers who still have a sedan in the marketplace. GM is focused on China and not the country that made them.

Not every buyer wants a compact car, ie: the CT4/5, a pickup, CUV, SUV or a minivan.

But most due, which is why they stopped selling them…

I don’t know what sales reports you’re reading but the market for such vehicles in this country is all but gone!

Do you actually think the new scaled-up-CT5 design of the CT6 would find any buyers in the US? Do you actually think GM should spend hundreds of millions to set up production here? I’m glad you don’t run GM.

      Mercedes sold 21K E class in 2021. 9800 in 2022. Lexus managed 2600 LS sales in 2022, down from 9300 in 2018. BMW 7 did 5900 last year, vs 9K in 2018.

There is virtually no market for large luxury sedans here any more.

  8. Do not put all of your eggs into one basket. China is not our friend so why do you want to support them.

I purchased 11 new Cadallac’s and have been quite loyal to GM. The way things are going I will sell my stock and move on to another brand. I know that i misspelled the word Caddy’s. It is too difficult try and correct.

  9. Bring it back. Nonsense, should have been ‘here’ to start with. GM is NOT an American Company but a company with an American name with a china heart.

Mercedes sells far more in the US than they do in Germany. Does that mean it has an American heart? Are there people on sites like this one in Germany complaining about it?

Same with Toyota, BMW, Audi, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia…….?

I’m happy an American company has found such great success in another country.

  10. They should make the customer in the United States happy and instead of china.it is shame yo have to wait months for a new car

    1. Robert:

They DO keep American buyers happy. They sell every Escalade they can build. That’s what Americans want and that’s what they get. They rejected the CT6. End if story.

GM as whole has been very successful. Tahoes, Silverados, Sierras, Traverses, Equinoxes, Blazers, Trailblazers everywhere you look.

  11. Is the market for Cadillacs so much greater in China at this time ? Is the Labor cost so low in China that GM can’t afford to make these models here in the US ? It’s just a shame. The American Auto industry was America. But then again, have you been to Detroit lately ? The focus is elsewhere. The Germans and the Japanese maintain their sense of pride in what those company build for their home markets.

To answer your first question: Yes.

    2022: US: 134K. China: 194K

    2021: US: 118K. China: 231K (almost 2 to 1)

    Your second question: Yes.

The Auto Industry is still very much America. I think you should be unhappy with the American buying public and not the companies building the vehicles they actually want. They have demonstrated clearly that they don’t like or buy cars such as the CT6 anymore. It’s just that simple. They may change their minds someday, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

In Detroit the focus is very much “here”. Your fellow Americans buy Big (dumb, ugly) trucks, SUVs and Crossovers. And Detroit gives ’em what they want.
