The average price paid for a new Buick vehicle decreased during the month of April 2023, falling 2.2 percent compared to the average price for a new Buick vehicle paid during the month of April 2022. However, the average price for a new Buick vehicle also increased slightly month-to-month this past April.
The pricing comparison was reported in a new analysis from Cox Automotive and Kelley Blue Book, and also included pricing information recorded from across the automotive industry.
Per the analysis, the average transaction price (ATP) for a new Buick vehicle was recorded at $38,212 during the month of April 2023. That figure represents a decrease of 2.2 percent compared to a figure of $39,068 recorded in April, 2022, as well as an increase of 0.2 percent compared to a figure of $38,149 recorded in March, 2023.
The analysis also looked at the combined ATP for all four of GM’s U.S. brands, which include Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC. Averaging all four of these brands, the ATP for a new GM vehicle was recorded at $51,973 during April of 2023, an increase of 4.5 percent compared to a figure of $49,743 recorded for April of 2022, and an increase of 1.1 percent compared to a figure of $51,396 recorded for March of 2023.
Meanwhile, evaluating the entire automotive industry, new-vehicle ATP was recorded at $48,275 for April of 2023, which was a 3.7-percent year-over-year increase compared to a figure of $46,531 recorded for April of 2022. The April 2023 figure was also more or less flat compared to the preceding month, with new-vehicle ATP recorded at $48,289 for the month of March, 2023.
Critically, the latest ATP figures show that new-vehicle prices for the broader auto industry are now on a downward trend, with industry-wide ATP below sticker price for the second consecutive month after 20 months of new-vehicle ATPs holding above MSRP.
