Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder, and that definitely rings true for the custom automotive bodywork seen here. Even so, grafting the front bumper of a Chevy Camaro onto a Chevy Astro van and chopping down the rear into a pickup truck bed is certainly one way to get noticed. Funny enough, this bizarre custom Chevy Astro van is now listed for sale as well.
Recently spotted on Facebook Marketplace, this wacky four-wheeled creation is located in Sacramento, California, and is apparently based on a 2007 Chevy Astro van.
“This is a one of a kind Astro van that had been chopped into a truck,” the listing states. “It has a ZL1 Camaro front end with BMW headlights.”
The listing goes on to state that the custom can be used for advertising purposes, and incorporates a hydraulically activated sign that flips up when it’s needed, or sits flush in the rear when it isn’t. The whole thing is covered in flat black paint, while five-spoke Boss wheels with a polished rim sit in the corners.
While certainly a bizarre thing to look at, the listing asserts that the mechanical bits are more or less sound, with roughly 106,000 miles on the clock. The Vortec V6 was rebuilt (or replaced) around 52,000 miles, while the transmission was recently rebuilt as well. The A/C blows cold, while an automatic transmission handles the cog swaps.
A few other bits and pieces include leveled suspension, new wipers and arms, new door mechanisms, LED lighting, a new alternator, a new front window, and a custom rear window. The seller states that the “interior is not finished,” although we’re totally sure what that means. The upholstery and dash look fine, but maybe the builder wanted something equally as eye-catching for the cabin.
Now, this Chevy Camaro / Astro van mashup is up for sale, listed at $6,900. What do you think?

It doesn’t look great, and I would never buy this from him… But I sort of like the idea for some reason.
Wow! Take $5k van, spend another $2-3k and 200-300 hours working on it and then sell it for $6.5k! Sounds like the cars I’ve built.
A 2007 astro, or GMC ‘s safari, can not be right since 2005 was the last year of production. But I do like the creative custom fab work.
Another likely example of how meth fosters creativity.
Interesting concept. I sure do like the old rwd Astros and wish they could have been updated and continued in production.
Yeah we had a 91 and it was a great vehicle for my family. Probably the best kid vehicle we had. I very much prefer it over the current crossovers.
Actually cooler looking than I expected. Now just get it painted and some nice wheels and good to go.
ALL THE NEGATIVE PEOPLE ON HERE WITH THEIR COMMENTS: IF YOU DONT HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY THEN SCROLL ON SUCKERS! SOUND JEALOUS TO ME…
Welcome to Mr. Roger’s neighborhood…
It’s custom and has been done before. I saw an Astro with an Escalade front and it looked cool. Japan does some crazy stuff with vans.
If everything works and I can haul with it why not? It would make an interesting shop truck.
Looks like Timothy Leary’s Astro Van.
Kind of has that Hot Wheels surfer cabover van look to it.
At first glance, I was thinking Toon’d Silverado…lol
There had to be Mushrooms or LSD involved…
A head turner in the hood.
Different, Original and pretty cool, not so much my style, but i wouldn’t mind using it for a bit.
Looks great I like it 👍👍 GM take notes and build another Astro van an Astro EV would be awesome all that room… Just give us decent range!
Joan sucks, what’s so valuable how you spend your time wench?
I can’t imagine who would want to drive this. No, I mean that in the most literal sense. Who woke up today thinking, hmmm… I need to drive something…”different”.
Not everyone is as boring as you are, apparently.
Hey it was okay to drive Scion XB or Nissan Cube that looked a washing machine on wheels! There’s nothing wrong with this it’s nice to see someone is not ho hum and used their brains and imagination to build some unique…. If you don’t like fine but you don’t need to go putting people down! I would drive this.
*something*
No picture of the rear end.
I’m an Astro Van Fan and these are most likely being built today on another planet that has a time shift minus 35 years in relation to earth. I wish I could figure out how to get there like this creative sole. Great job, I’ll take two. Back to the past…
This one man’s personality reflection and has been going on for centuries with personal transportation. Like it or not this is what keeps our multi-billion-dollar hobby/industry rolling.
Funny I was trying to locate this vehicle and came across, my co-worker built this when he owned a car audio shop in West Sacramento. 😂
