All-New 2024 Chevy Trax Is A Best-Seller In South Korea

Following the official launch of all-new 2024 Chevy Trax in South Korea at the end of March, Chevrolet‘s entry-level crossover has already become a best-selling vehicle in the Asian country.

General Motors has just announced that the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax launch in South Korea was a success, selling some 3,072 units in April, the first month of sales for the second-generation Trax. This record represents the highest monthly sales volume that a Chevrolet vehicle has obtained in that country in recent years, which not only made it the brand’s best-seller in the month but also in cumulative calendar year sales so far.

In fact, the successful commercial start of the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax resulted in Bow Tie brand sales tripling last month in Korea compared to March, fulfilling GM Korea’s recent expectations that the crossover would boost local sales. That strong initial volume, achieved in just three weeks of the month, confirms that the 2024 Trax is a key player in the growth of GM’s South Korean business.

In addition to the model’s sales success in the South Korean market, the company also announced that it exported another 13,310 units of the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax to North America in April – a similar volume to the 13,591 units of the new Trax exported to the region in March. As such, total 2024 Trax sales over the past month amounted to 16,382 units in its first month of combined overseas and South Korean deliveries.

“The Chevrolet Trax Crossover has been an incredible success in global markets, achieving more than 16,000 sales in April in the domestic and export markets,” said GM Senior Vice President and President of GM International, Shilpan Amin, during an official visit to South Korea. “More than 13,000 customers placed orders in the first seven days since its launch in March. This is a hot product breaking records in Korea and in export markets,” he added.

It is expected that over the coming months, the 2024 Chevy Trax will continue to increase its sales and Chevrolet’s competitiveness in the local South Korean market, as well as in the United States and Canada, which will continue to be its main business focus. To do this, GM plans to significantly increase production volume in its two South Korean plants starting in the second quarter of the year until reaching the maximum installed capacity of 500,000 units per year.

  1. Not a surprise. What a thing if South Korean demand clashes with North American supply needs… longer waiting periods for buyers which is something I have foreseen.

  2. Since the Trax is viewed by GM as a replacement for the Chevy Cruze wouldn’t it be logical to again offer the 1.6L whisper diesel engine in this vehicle-,it is the most fuel sipping ICE that GM ever offered with Consumer Reports measuring 60mpg highway fuel economy- it would be a big success IF GM promoted it especially now as diesel wholesale prices are less than gasoline at present

  3. I don’t see a Trax as a replacement for my Cruze.
An SUF is a different type of vehicle, less aerodynamic, and less powered, and its all-black plastic and chrome interior feels like a lesser-value car.

It’s hard to understand why North American automakers want consumers to switch to SUVs while Japanese all European are launching cool sedans for 2024.
