Above-Lyriq Cadillac Electric Crossover Rendered

GM is aiming to introduce a swath of new EVs over the next few years, and Cadillac is going along for the ride. In fact, Caddy will be the tip of the spear in GM’s portfolio electrification strategy, with plans to go fully electric across its lineup by the 2030 calendar year. To that end, Cadillac will introduce a new all-electric crossover that will slot in above the Cadillac Lyriq, and now, GM Authority is showing you what that new Cadillac electric crossover might look like with the following exclusive renderings.

Before we get into the details, it should be mentioned that we’ve based our renderings on a series of recent spy photos that captured the new Cadillac electric crossover underoing testing as a camo-clad prototype. Using these photos, as well as Cadillac’s latest styling language, we’ve come up with the following design.

In terms of overall shape, our Cadillac electric crossover renderings look somewhat similar to the Cadillac XT6, with a traditional yet softly-sloping roofline and prominently-shaped sheetmetal. However, as soon as you look a bit more closely, the upcoming EV shows a long list of important details that make it stand out from its ICE-powered stablemates.

That includes front-end styling that takes inspiration from the Cadillac Lyriq and Cadillac Celestiq, with a large, crest-shaped grille section, prominent upper styling line, and triangular, wing-like side sections. Vertical lighting occupies the corners, rising up to horizontal turn signals that emphasize the upper styling line.

The profile shows off a more traditional crossover shape than that of the Lyriq, once again echoing the Cadillac XT6. However, the new Cadillac electric crossover also looks to offer a longer wheelbase than the ICE-powered XT6, as well as perhaps a slightly longer dash-to-axle ratio. The wheels show off a multi-faceted, technical-looking design, while black trim rings lower sections of the body. The door handles sit flush with the body for a more aerodynamic silhouette.

Moving around to the rear of the vehicle, the new Cadillac electric crossover shows off tall, vertically oriented taillights similar to those found on the Cadillac Escalade. A subtle roof spoiler sits on top of the hatch, while the lower bumper section is smoothed out to enhance the crossover’s aero.

For now, the official name to be used for the new Cadillac electric crossover has yet to be revealed. That said, GM has trademarked quite a few possibilities thus far, including Lumistiq, Optiq, Symboliq, and Ascentiq. Expect a reveal before the end of the 2023 calendar year, with production kicking off in 2024.

My bet is on the Ascentiq name for this large EV. But I am waiting for the EV below the Lyric.

Ascendiq… I wonder if anyone at Cadillac realizes that this word sounds like “a$$ and d1ck”

This is absolutely terrible. I hope GM Authority is way off here. Any future SUV that models itself after an XT6 would be disappointing to say the least. I just don’t understand how the design language of any new vehicle would replicate any of the XT vehicles. People are speaking with their wallet and the Escalade design is what sells. The Escalade outsold the XT6 2 to 1 last year with a starting price more than 1.5 times the price of an XT6. Build a superior product and people will buy it. Continue building a mediocre product (compared to the Escalade) and you won’t move the needle.

It won’t look like this. They should have used the Lyriq is the basis of the photoshop.

What the XT6’s design should’ve been from inception. OLED dash in 2023 and articles would’ve been why GM has a hit on its hands.

10 to 1 downvotes. I’m genuinely interested in why I’m in the 10% minority. Anyone care to provide feedback on my comment? I always liked the clean lines of the XT6 but regarded its powertrain and interior as falling way short of its competitors.

Other than the Lyric-Like front, It looks rather pedestrian.

I’ve had my Lyriq for a bit over one month now and I love it. It’s the most luxurious Cadillac I’ve ever seen. And hopefully the model above the Lyriq will look better than the Lyriq.

Weird how many thumbs down you got for some positive feedback about your new Lyriq. I thought this was a GM forum. Congrats on the car. Wish they sold them here in Oz. Matter of time I guess.

The rendering does not fit with the Celestiq look that is to be spread across all the models. Remember that they designed the Celestiq first then adapted the look to fit Lyriq and all that follow afterwards.

Exactly. Expect something along the lines of a more upright, grown up Lyriq. Not this half baked render (sorry) that is essentially XT6 with a new nose and none of the sharp window treatment, surfacing and signature tail lighting that will come with the new model. Still, so much outrage at just a render 🙂

Hell no. They won’t move any into peoples hands if it’s anything as stale and boring as that. That wouldn’t even cut it as an XT6 refresh.
