2023 GMC Canyon Offers Two Digital Instrument Cluster Sizes: Video

As is typically the case for all-new vehicles, the 2023 GMC Canyon overhauls the exterior, interior, and powertrain. As the first model year of GMC’s third-generation midsize pickup truck, one of the more notable features of the 2023 Canyon is the new screen setup, and today, GM Authority is taking a closer look into the two digital clusters offered in the all-new Canyon.
The 2023 Canyon actually offers two fully digital driver information centers. The first option – the eight-inch diagonal fully-digital display (RPO code URO) – is standard on the first two Canyon trim levels – the Elevation and AT4. Meanwhile, 2023 Canyon AT4X and Denali are upgraded to the larger, 11-inch diagonal fully-digital display (RPO code URF).
Elevation | AT4 | AT4X | Denali | |
---|---|---|---|---|
8-inch diagonal fully-digital display (URO) | S | S | - | - |
11-inch diagonal fully-digital display (URF) | - | - | S | S |
- S = Standard
- – = Not Available
Unfortunately, the larger gauge cluster is not offered on the Elevation or AT4 models, even as an option. That’s something we hope to see changed in subsequent model years of the third-gen Canyon.
As a reminder, the 2023 GMC Canyon is offered with a single powertrain configuration, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine. Only available in the High Output tune, this powerplant develops 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque in Big Red’s midsize pickup. By comparison, the Canyon’s corporate cousin and platform mate, the Chevy Colorado, is offered with two tunes of the L3B engine, along with a less potent version – the L2R – in entry-level trims.
In regard to transmission options, all 2023 Canyon units utilize an updated version of GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission. RWD is standard on the starting Elevation trim level, while 4WD is optional on the Elevation. 4WD is also equipped as standard on AT4, AT4X and Denali trims.
Under the skin, the all-new Canyon rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, which it shares with the 2023 Chevy Colorado. Meanwhile, production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft recently spent some wheel time with the “base” 2023 GMC Canyon Elevation, providing his first impressions of the all-new midsizer in the video embedded above.

Oh, by the way, they’re on a constraint along with the rest of the truck lol
While the trucks (and vans!!) that Wentzville CAN get built, end up sitting outside the plant getting hailed on.
When you’re doing your best to defeat yourself, all Ford etc. have to do is show up.
Spend more cash, get better stash.
Who wants a midsize truck that only gets 20 mpg with a 4 cylinder. You can have a full size and do that.
I got a 2023 Canyon AT4 about 3 weeks ago. I have been getting 24-25 mpg on my 50 mile round trip to work every day. What kind of mileage are you getting on yours? I’m guessing you don’t have one?
Where are these Unicorns?
Haven’t seen one. The one I ordered was supposed to be shipped in March. Last check they told me it was still in Wentzville. I got an email from GM last week telling me they “were perfecting” my Denali. How sorry is that?
More like fixing the hailstones damage
what? it was not “perfect” from the start? Sorry, that is GM stupidity right there.
Dan Trillirsin… I don’t disagree with you but the of the problem is people just don’t want to get back to work since COVID I am not making excuses your truck should be ready but if they are perfecting it I myself would rather wait then have a hastly made shiitty build quality truck. Also with China still on the Fritz that’s where ALL car companies get parts from so if China isn’t building it they can’t finish it .. bring the manufacturing back to America I said this 20 years ago when this imports from china started now it hurting us.
I truly agree with all of you I know it’s been extremely frustrating unlike you guys I was weak and frustrated, so I gave up and canceled my order. I didn’t want to be held hostage by any dealer nor car manufacturer. The truth be told if they just communicated with me, it would’ve been different. I couldn’t get any information from the dealer nor from GM. Everybody would say the truck is suspended indefinitely. They have no idea what’s going on. Yeah OK great customer service, I know I shouldn’t compare and I’m sure there’s going to be some critics out there that are going to remind me but I’ll use Porsche as an example and comparing apples and apples you can buy a Macan for 60 grand so to compare a loaded Dinali Porsche gave you Complete communication throughout the process of the build, and even gave you pictures of the vehicle as it went through stages example when the marriage takes place between the frame and the engine when it comes out of the paint shop, and then when it comes off of the production line they take a final picture And for those that will laugh thinking that I’m comparing the two I’m not, but what I am saying is communication will definitely help the consumer and if somebody would’ve said to me it was $150 more for total communication throughout the process of your build. I would’ve been willing to do that but anyhow just food for thought. In the meantime I’m hoping GM authority will do some follow up to help you guys out I sure feel for you. I hope everything works out well.
You guys are living in la la land. They’re delivering trucks every day. Wake up and smell the coffee.
I’ve seen quite bit in SoCal now so idk why you got downvoted
Hmm, let’s see, you used an on road, specially built luxury performance CUV as an example of the service you don’t get tracking with GM? Why not just just compare it to a Bentley Bentayga? Serious, Porsche moves maybe 20k of those a year, not at all apples to apples. But go ahead and use that as your argument… That is apples to helicopter comparison buddy. The Macan starts above what a loaded Canyon goes for, many you really lost your basis for an argument.
There he is V Vee8 where have you been? Where is your sidekick common sense my gosh GM apologists utterly amazing U2 both are obviously coming up for air after having your head stuck in the sand look at all of the posts about vehicles not being shipped or hold ups or whatever it may be again lack of communication I feel so sorry for those customers they are troopers to me like I said I gave up I’ll just wait until I can get one on the lot anyhow glad to see you’re back
All the posts? You mean the handful you see get posted out of the tens of thousands of orders? Yeah, my head is buried! Not… You do realize how big GM is, how many vehicles they have and how tracking works right? You won’t get any significant difference in tracking with any of the other large volume manufacturers (Ford, Toyota, Dodge, etc). Nice try though.
3 more inches isn’t enough upgrade for that . I’m not fan having go through the screen for everything …….. Kinda annoying
10.1-inch touchscreen on XL, XLS, XLT and Sport models. 12-inch touchscreen on Wildtrak, Platinum and Raptor.
In retrospective Ranger is bigger for little bit more money .
When I bought my new 2018 SLT canyon, the only other truck I considered was a Ford Ranger, the deciding factor in getting Canyon was that I really liked the fold down flat rear seat. My 2018 Canyon was really a great truck for me, traded it in with 109000 miles on and it was perfect for all those miles. My new 2023 Z71 Colorado witch I now have! Is even better then I imagined, however no fold down back seat?…….And now the new 2024 Ford Ranger has fold down rear seat, go figure.
