First hitting the scene in July of 2022, the 2023 Chevy Colorado introduces a brand-new third generation for the pickup nameplate, ushering in a long list of changes and updates that includes an overhauled interior, a new powertrain, and new styling. Critically, the pickup’s latest styling also includes a front air dam, which is equipped as standard on every trim level except the Colorado ZR2. Now, one reader has removed the front air dam on his new 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss, sharing what it looks like GM Authority.
The photos were sent in by GM Authority reader Robert F., highlighting the front end styling of the 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss, sans air dam. As expected, the Colorado Trail Boss looks quite a bit better without the air dam attached, a mod that appears to underline the off-roader’s trail-ready attitude with even more visual height.
This particular model also stands out for its wider-than-stock stance courtesy of a set of aftermarket wheel spacers. From the factory, the 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss already has a rather intimidating road presence thanks to its large running gear and tall 2-inch factory lift.
With regard to the features, the 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss includes several elements carried over from the base-model WT (Work Truck) including the exterior lighting, which incorporate halogen (or rather, non-LED) lighting elements. Notably, the 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss also incorporates the relatively spartan interior of the WT trim level, with similar materials and comfort features. For more information, make sure to check out the exclusive GM Authority interior tour and deep dive video below:
It’s also worth noting that none of the 2023 GMC Canyon variants include a front valance, providing even further differentiation between the two GM midsize pickups.
Under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss is equipped as standard with the 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, specifically, the 2.7L Turbo Plus variant rated at 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. The updated GM 31XX-2 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Most trucks look better without the air dam.
At least he has received one.
😂
And people wonder why the MPG on the 2024 models gets worse mileage.
If you remove the dam it may look better but you’re going to sacrifice mileage.
That’s my truck in the 1st picture! I removed it and haven’t notice any loss in mpg and I already driven about 300 miles since. Thanks for sharing my Colorado 👍🏻
