2023 Chevy Colorado Available With New Kicker Tailgate Speaker System

The all-new 2023 Chevy Colorado brings about a new generation of the Bow Tie brand’s midsize pickup truck. Along with all the expected upgrades to the exterior, interior and powertrain, the 2023 Colorado has also received a few notable features and accessories, like the new StowFlex tailgate. Now, General Motors offers a speaker system that fits inside said tailgate.

Taking the tailgating experience to the next level, this new Kicker audio system is equipped with Bluetooth, and is completely independent from the interior audio system. Waterproof as well, this accessory kit includes the speakers, all the necessary equipment for installation, and a link to the instructions.

For reference, the 2023 Colorado’s StowFlex tailgate feature is intended as a built-in storage solution capable of carrying a wide variety of items, including this new audio system. The storage compartment itself is 45 inches wide and 4 inches deep, and includes a lockable lid. The compartment is also watertight and includes a drain, making it a great place to store any cold beverages. In fact, it even includes a pair of cupholders.

Tagged with RPO code BPC, the StowFlex tailgate is available on all trim levels of the 2023 Colorado in some form. It’s worth noting that this feature is not to be confused with the Multi-Flex tailgate found on the Chevy Silverado 1500 and Chevy Silverado HD.

As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Colorado features two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which produces either 310 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, or 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, depending on the tune.

Under the skin, the all-new Colorado rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  1. This is all nice to see but those of us who have been waiting would rather see our trucks arrive at the dealership. Guess I should be thankful mine isn’t still in Wentzville. It was moved again last week to another St. Louis suburb. Nobody seems to know if that puts it closer to getting onto a rail car and shipped east.

  2. Yet the 2024 Tacoma will have a removable Bose speaker from the dash. One more week to see which trim level though. I’m guessing TRD Pro.

    1. Bob I seriously hope they vastly improve the 2024 Tacoma. The current 2023 Toyota is a piece of garbage, worst riding, worst handling, most uncomfortable vehicle I ever drove! No power, terrible ergonomics, terrible quality interior (stitching is coming undone on cloth seats at 15,000 miles) and pour fuel mileage to boot in real world driving.
I am completely stunned of how pour the current Tacoma is. I guess I was fooled, I did not research Tacoma until it was to late. After driving it for a bit I started to do research on the Toyota Tacoma thinking I just some how got the rare bad egg Toyota. I was shocked to find out that these truck are considered sub par to the other mid size trucks.

However the current Tacoma was my favorite body style of all mid size trucks until now. The new Canyon and Colorado are both much better looking and are hands down a better truck in every single category. I got the chance to drive a 2023 Z71 Colorado. Oh my it really completely shames the current Tacoma! I expect the 2024 Tacoma will be up to the Colorado standards. But for now anyone that buys a 2023 Tacoma over a 2023 Colorado has obviously not driven both trucks and is a fool. Take it from this fool.

      1. I had a 2005 Taco TRD Off-Road (which I eventually traded it for a 2008 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Edition) and I did not really have many problems with mine. I did the normal upgrades, tires, wheels, lift, etc. My only real complaint was noisy leafsprings which the dealership service dept. could not seem to fix. Very noticeable to other people and embarrassing at times.

  4. These pictures are nice to look at. But I would rather be looking at my 2023 colorado that I paid for almost five ago. All I can get out of the dealer is that it is in transit. It has been in transit for five weeks. I could have walked to St. Louis and drove it home in that time frame!!!!!! My first payment is due in a little over a week. I still don’t have the truck. I am paying for a truck that I don’t own. This is not a good thing.
Thank you for listening to me rant and rave. Sorry about this.
    God Bless
    Thank You

  5. Weather proof? Not forever. At the bottom of the tailgate, anything could slide and reshape the accessory in a flash.

People need to stop falling for the supply/demand scam. I will not put a dime down on a vehicle I can’t see, and no need to buy anything 4×4 because they cost too much to risk beyond the pavement.
