We’re Driving The 2024 Chevy Trax: What Do You Want To Know?

General Motors unveiled the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax in October of last year, showing off a fresh entry-level crossover for the Chevrolet brand. Now, GM Authority has been given an opportunity to drive the 2024 Chevy Trax, which leads us to ask – what do you want to know, dear reader?
Highlights for the 2024 Chevy Trax include an all-new exterior that shows off styling inspired by the ICE-based Chevy Blazer crossover. The fascia incorporates LED lighting, while trim-level-specific wheel and grille designs punctuate the lineup. There are also new exterior dimensions that are lower, longer, and wider than the preceding model.
Five trim levels are offered, including LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ. Wheel sizing includes 17-inch, 18-inch and 19-inch options.
The larger exterior dimensions provide more room in the cabin as well, with an extra 3 inches of legroom and 12 percent greater cargo capacity. An 8-inch diagonal infotainment screen is equipped as standard, while an 11-inch screen is equipped higher in the trim level lineup. Tech features include optional Adaptive Cruise Control, as well as Active Noise Cancellation.
Motivation is sourced from the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which is rated at a maximum of 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output reaches the front wheels via the GM 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is not offered.
The 2024 Chevy Trax starts at $21,495, including destination freight charge (DFC). Critically, the 2024 Chevy Trax is less expensive than equivalent 2022 Chevy Trax models. Under the body panels, the 2024 Chevy Trax rides on the GM VSS-F platform. Production takes place at two GM facilities located in South Korea, including the GM Changwon Plant, and the GM Bupyeong plant.
Per a GM Authority exclusive, GM is planning to build and ship a massive number of 2024 Chevy Trax units for the U.S. market during the course of the 2023 calendar year. In addition, General Motors expects the 2024 Chevy Trax to have a significantly higher residual value than the preceding generation.
With all that covered, we want to know – what do you want to know about the 2024 Chevy Trax? Tell us by posting your questions in the comment section, and remember to subscribe to GM Authority for more Chevy Trax news, Chevy news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

How’s the performance from the 1.2L? I have driven an Encore GX FWD with the 1.3L, and it was sufficient.
How’s the rear legroom? It’s hard to find a compact suv with much of that.
How underpowered is it?
well under powered in china there is only one engine its the 1.5 litre turbo with 181 horse power on tap its called the seeker
That is what I mean. They have the 1.5L. We get the 1.2L….even weaker.
This weighs the same as a civic, has 20% more torque at 1000 rpm less and Honda sells quite a few of those without issue. I would say for 95% of buyers this will be more than sufficient.
Chevy suggests this is more of a higher riding sedan. Can you provide comparisons to a Malibu as well as a Trailblazer to help us understand if it’s more sedan like or more CUV like?
Probably how it handles and how it gets on the Highway
How is the interior quality? Cheap/Average?
Does it have any pep? How is the ride on 17 and 18 inch wheels (LT and Activ)?
How is the 6 speed auto over the CVT in the 1.2L? I drove the 1.2L CVT and honestly was impressed from normally driving a 2.0L 9 speed.
My front seat passenger riding son is well over 6′ and wants stretch out room like in the Impala. How much seat travel is there? Not interested if it’s like a Honda with lousy travel based on Asian body types with short legs.
thanks
When will these be available in decent numbers at dealerships?
Why doesn’t Chevy put the 1.5 from the Equinox in this car?
yes i agree,in china this suv is call the seeker and it has only one engine its the new 1.5 litre turbo with 181 horse power available etc,we in north america get the smallest engine why, why why, always the less exiting product i say
Running the 1.2L Turbo, FWD only in this ’24 Trax is acceptable. With GM trying to build Buick back to into a luxury brand (their own words), the new ’24 Buick Envista is a complete miss. The Envista runs the same exact drivetrain with a different body bolted to it. The term “budget luxury” is the very definition of an oxymoron.
With that being said, this new Trax looks great and I’m sure it will sell for what it is intended. JMHO.
Which styles have the electric seats? The manual seats are not as comfortable.
I’ll take a Trailblazer instead.
I’m really interested in this model but was wondering how is the handling like as well as the longevity of the build quality.
Is it true that the top of the line ACTIV has power seats but the TOL RS does not?
How large is its fuel tank? Are splash guards and body side moldings available as dealer installed accessories?
Would like to know what it’s like in the driver seat when it comes to roominess and ride height. Does it feel more like ur sitting in a sedan similar to the Niro/Kona? Also, does the extra length make up for the lower roof line in your eyes?
How is the engine road and wind noise when driving, especially on highway roads? How is the general handling dynamics and comfort feel? What is the observed fuel economy when you complete your driving tests?
Is there a large (tall) stepover at the door? My wife is having knee replacement surgery and will need wide front doors and easy stepover for the next year or more.
Does the 1.2L 3 cylinders engine have any power or does it just crawl. I went to buy a Trax or the Buick Envista but I very skeptical on the engine.
I saw a Youtube video of being driven. Seemed ok around town but when it was floored the noise was rough.
I haven’t owned a SUV in several years, does this vehicle have a high sight height compared to car models?
