Chevy K5 Blazer fans looking for classic SUV styling paired with modern amenities and a modern powertrain can now turn to Velocity Modern Classics, which recently announced its new Signature Line of Chevy K5 Blazer restomods.
Also known for turning out classic Ford Bronco and F-Series truck restomods, Velocity Modern Classics is now set to offer a full restomod upgrade for the 1969 through 1972 Chevy K5 Blazer, giving fans of the Bow Tie brand an opportunity to enjoy the iconic utility vehicle in a brand-new context.
Velocity Modern Classics starts its Chevy K5 Blazer restomod with a new frame, while a new naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 Small Block V8 provides the motivation. Output is set at 455 horsepower, with spent gasses exiting via a custom performance exhaust system. To note, the LT1 is the same powerplant offered by the C7-generation Chevy Corvette and sixth-generation Chevy Camaro. Output is routed through the 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission, while the drivetrain is upgraded with a Dana 44 front axle and Dana 60 rear. Wilwood brakes provide the stop.
Outside, the Velocity Modern Classics Chevy K5 Blazer struts its stuff with a Glasurit single or two-tone paint finish, which is matched with an OEM-style hard top. JW Speaker LED headlights and a custom chrome grille are installed, while a set of 17-inch Pacer steel wheels wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires provide the stick. The glass and weather seals are all replaced, while a set of Amp Research PowerStep retractable running boards aide ingress and egress.
The interior also gets nicely upgraded, matching the vintage feel with custom upholstery, carpeting, a new dash pad, and a custom headliner. New Velocity bucket seats are mounted up front, while the rear bench is offered in either marine-grade vinyl or custom leather. Vintage Air keeps the climate control, while a Bluetooth-enabled stereo with Focal Audio speakers and sub keep the tunes flowing.
Interested customers can contact Velocity Modern Classics for more information. Each build is completed in-house, and is expected to take 14 weeks to complete from time of order.

Nice Drawing, better what GM does
I wonder if they’ll make a GMC Jimmy?
Thank God they didn’t make it electric!
I owned 12 2×2 1970 to ’82 Blazers and a 2×2 ’72 Gimmy of which very few were built in the 2-wheel drive. They were fun, good looking and I made good money on all. I think if I had all of them still in my garage my bank acct would be high 6 to low 7 figures
Checked their web site, $379,900.
Its not a “2×2” and its not a “Gimmy”.
It’s a 2×4 meaning a 2 wheel drive 4 wheeled vehicle.
A 2×2 is like a all wheel drive Motorcycle.
And GMC made the “Jimmy” short for GMC.
I have my doubts about your being much of a fan of These trucks.
I know that about 4x4s. You are right…I am not just a fan of these trucks, I Aa The Authority of Custom Utility Vehicles. I don’t drive normal cars nor do I speak commoner car people’s language. I grew up deeply involved in the custom car life so don’t tell me chit about what I don’t know. After owning over 350 vehicles since the age of 15, (I’m 66 now) many of my rides were/are not common like you people drive. The 2-door, 2-wheel drive moniker – 2×2 – Is something we custom guys came up with decades ago. If you doubt me then go to my FB page (email me for my page name) or Instagram hck_speedwagen, where you will see photos of my rides, my designs, living with, the business of, and my philosophy about life with custom cars. I am a long-roof, sedan delivery, panel truck custom SUV, designer, buyer, and seller. As for the GIMMY thing, I’m pretty sure I know better. My dad built GMC engines and he called them Gimmys. The ’34 Chevy he had in the late 50s was built by the Foyts in Houston and he raced it in Dickenson TX at Houston International Dragway for several years. I was conceived in that Gimmy ride in 1956. It had a big bad Gimmy. The Hartman name has been a huge thing with custom vehicles since the 1800s. I was in the custom pinstriping biz since 1977 striping every kind of vehicle out there. I’ve built many of my cars since my first build at 14, bought and sold many, have a family of customizers, hot rodders, builders designers, 3 generations of pinstripers, and custom painters…so I’m pretty damm sure I know what I’m doing.
It’s 4X2, 4 wheels X 2 wheels under power. Doors #’s are for coupe vs sedan vs suburban monikers. 2X4 and 2X2 are a pieces of wood. Particular regional monikers may claim as such, but everywhere else identifies how they see fit.
Loved my hugger orange 72 4X4 K5 Blazer, and 71 mustard yellow 4X2 C10 p/u.
I just need a good single walled top for my 72 Blazer. Anyone know where I can find one?
Had a ’79 2wd. Aqua and white. Relative is owner of ’76 2wd with 4-speed he bought new. All black with saddle interior. Too if line package. Beautiful.
71’s & 72’s were the best GM ever built.
I have a 72 two wheel drive. I’d love to have a brand new GM produced Blazer. BUT like my 72; Two door, full convertible. Plus add a 67 style front clip please! 🇺🇸😍
It’s $379,000? Nice, but NO THANK YOU.
