This 1997 Chevy Camaro Has Seen Better Days: Video

The fourth generation of the Chevy Camaro is often overlooked, as it doesn’t boast the legendary status of the first generation nor the relevance of the current sixth generation of the Bow Tie brand’s muscle car. As a result, prices are relatively cheap, and people are more enticed to modify their “catfish Camaro.” That being said, check out what’s left of this 1997 Camaro that’s certainly seen better days.

Actually, this vehicle isn’t a Camaro at all. The owner of this Frankenstein took a 1997 Camaro and grafted the body panels onto the frame of a Honda Civic. As such, it’s front-wheel drive and is powered by a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine.

Chevy Camaro Honda Civic hybrid.

Besides the blasphemy of creating this mutant Camaro-bodied Civic, one of the more notable attributes of this conception are the various stunts the owner puts it through. Scrolling through several social media posts, we can see that the owner has jumped it, “drifted” it, and has generally just beat the car to a bloody pulp.

As a reminder, the fourth-generation of the Chevy Camaro spanned from model years 1993 to 2002. As a 1997 model, this particular Camaro was the final edition before the mid-cycle refresh and the subsequent release of the 5.7L V8 LS1. Available in either coupe of convertible configurations, the fourth-gen Camaro was manufactured at the GM Sainte-Thérèse Plant in Canada.

The 2002 Camaro is noteworthy for being the last F-body Camaro ever produced, as General Motors axed production of the muscle car until its revival for the 2010 model year. In a similar vein, the current sixth-generation Camaro will sunset following the 2024 model year. To commemorate what will likely be the final ICE-powered Camaro, GM recently announced the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collectors Edition.
