A pair of 2023 Chevy Traverse LPO or dealer-installed wheel options are currently unavailable to order, GM Authority has learned. These wheels are listed below, with RPO codes in parentheses.
- 20-inch Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels, LPO (S2D)
- 20-inch Chrome aluminum wheels with (RXH) chrome Bowtie wheel center cap, LPO (RZR)
Ordinarily, both wheels are optional on the LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, and Premier trim levels of the 2023 Chevy Traverse. Neither wheel option is available on the RS trim level.
The 20-inch Gloss Black wheels (RPO code S2D) are priced at $1,995 and are unavailable on the High Country trim. The 20-inch Chrome wheels (RPO code RZR) are priced at $3,395 and are ordinarily available on the High Country trim.
When the 2023 Chevy Traverse is ordered with one of these two wheel options, actual installation of the wheels takes place at the dealership. The vehicle rolls out of the factory on transit wheels (RPO code SKL) fitted with P255/55R20 all-season blackwall tires (RPO code Q3N). On arrival at the dealership, the dealer attaches the LPO wheels and ships the transit wheels back to the factory.
While these two LPO wheel options are currently under constraint, the heated front seats (RPO code KA1) and ventilated front seats (RPO code KU9) for the 2023 Chevy Traverse, previously under constraint, are available again. Vehicles affected by the constraints are marked with RPO code 00V on the window sticker. Some related retrofits are already under way.
The 2023 Chevy Traverse recently got a “recommended” rating from Consumer Reports based on successful road testing, good driving experience, and several other factors. CR remarked that the crossover features a smooth-feeling engine and a transmission that shifts easily. The Traverse also received high marks for braking and acceleration.
The 2023 Chevy Traverse is the sixth and final model year of the crossover’s second generation. The 2024 Chevy Traverse will usher in the vehicle’s third generation and is scheduled to debut in calendar 2023. GM Authority presented spy photos of the 2024 Traverse prototype road testing in early March.
In addition to a design overhaul, the 2024 Chevy Traverse could see changes to the available trim level lineup. The large, three-row crossover may get a new Activ trim level, with features focused on an “active lifestyle” and upgraded off-roading capability. At the same time, the range-topping High Country trim may be dropped from the lineup.
Sources state start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024Â Chevy Traverse is scheduled for December of the 2023 calendar year.
As a reminder, the current 2023 Chevy Traverse is motivated by the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, developing 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and paired with the GM 9-speed automatic transmission.
Both the current Traverse and the upcoming 2024 model year ride on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform. This platform is also found under body panels of the Chevy Blazer, the GMC Acadia, the Cadillac XT5, the Cadillac XT6 and the Buick Enclave. Chevy Traverse production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
