The All-New 2023 GMC Canyon Officially Arrives In Mexico

After first announcing the all-new 2023 GMC Canyon in Mexico last August, General Motors has just confirmed the official arrival of the third-generation GMC pickup in the Latin country.

2023 GMC Canyon

The all-new 2023 GMC Canyon is introduced in Mexico to expand the truck brand’s local portfolio of vehicles, with important innovations in design, technologies and refinement that make it the most advanced midsize pickup on the market. In fact, the 2023 Canyon is the only premium truck in its class in North America and marks the return of the nameplate after a decade of absence from the Mexican market.

“The new generation of GMC Canyon takes design to the forefront and shows a great technological advancement,” said Marketing Manager for GMC at GM Mexico, Ángel Pacheco. “The 2023 GMC Canyon will be the first in the market to offer a set of key segment-first features. We have no doubt that Canyon is redefining the meaning of midsize pickup,” he added.

The launch lineup of the all-new 2023 GMC Canyon in Mexico is made up exclusively of the range-topping AT4 and Denali trim levels, confirming the model’s position in its segment in the country. Both versions boast their own distinctive styling cues and come standard with state-of-the-art connectivity technologies, the comprehensive GMC Pro Safety suite and a highly refined interior design.

Mechanically, the 2023 GMC Canyon is equipped with the 2.7L I4 L3B turbocharged engine in its high-output configuration, with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, managed by GM’s next-generation 8L80 eight-speed automatic transmission. In Mexico, the 2023 Canyon comes standard with 4WD and four drive modes, a factory-installed two-inch suspension lift and an advanced 360-degree camera system.

The all-new 2023 GMC Canyon will be available for sale at all 40 official GMC dealerships in Mexico during the month of June, as the model’s second auxiliary market outside of the United States and Canada after the Middle East – where it will be sold exclusively with the new AT4X trim level. Here are the prices of the two 2023 Canyon variants in Mexico:

  • 2023 Canyon AT4: 1,124,400 pesos (about $62,290 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • 2023 Canyon Denali: 1,198,400 pesos ($66,390 USD)

  2. Another money hungry move by GM. Just kick the American buyer to the gutter, let’s go to Mexico where very few will have that kind of money to even buy one.

  5. I wonder if they have to buy Onstar in Mexico in order to use the same technology? GM took a lot of my features away on my High Country when I dropped Onstar.

  7. Way to go GM…let’s piss off customers in another country too….I ordered a canyon in November, built 2/2 but still not shipped. Cancelled this one and found another built in late March and supposedly in-transit….hasn’t left the factory either.

  9. Too bad we can’t find one in the US! My wife and I live in Jefferson City Missouri and had to go to St. Louis this weekend. Took a quick off-road excursion to Wentzville, Mo, where both the Canyon and Colorado are produced. There were rows and rows of these beautiful new trucks, waiting for transport parked in the lot right outside of the factory, and who knows how long they have been sitting there? Why are they not being delivered to dealers?

  10. The AT4 I ordered in mid-December was built on 2/6/2023. I have received a couple of emails stating that there is no update. Read on this forum that they could not ship due to lack of EPA certification. Read on another forum that there are quality issues that need to be resolved. I go to the GMC website and see that many Canyons are listed as “In Transit” but mine is not listed under my dealer. I talked to my salesman and he can only confirm that they do not have a ship date. I logon to mygmc and ask the chatbot about my order status. It states that the truck is built but I need to talk to my dealer about shipping status. Who’s on first GM?
