General Motors has started a Customer Satisfaction Program for certain examples of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade produced with the incorrect steering wheel trim spoke cover applique. The Customer Satisfaction Program also applies to the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V.
According to the GM bulletin, the applique installed on the steering wheel spokes of a limited number of 2023 Cadillac Escalade units during production was apparently mismatched to the interior colorway and trim level.
GM offers a variety of interior wood finishes for the 2023 Cadillac Escalade, including the following:
- Linear Tiger wood
- Parchment Tamo Ash wood
- Zebra wood
- Fine Line Brandy wood
- Linear Marquetry wood
- Natural Figured Ash wood
- Bitter Lace wood
These wood trims match up to the various trim levels and interior colorways available for the full-size SUV as shown in the table below. Trim levels are listed on the right and interior colorways at the top.
Jet Black | Parchment with Jet Black accents | Brandy with Very Dark Atmosphere accents | Whisper Beige with Jet Black accents | Whisper Beige with Gideon accents | Dark Auburn with Jet Black accents | |

GM instructs dealers to replace the incorrect steering wheel spoke cover applique on all affected units. The replacement should take place when an affected 2023 Cadillac Escalade unit arrives as inventory, is brought in by the owner for unrelated repairs, or is brought in by the owner specifically for the purpose of replacing the incorrect steering wheel applique with the correct trim.
Dealers with an affected 2023 Escalade in inventory must de-certify it for sale and hold the vehicle until the correct trim is installed. Once the correct applique is installed the dealership can submit a warranty transaction in GM’s Global Warranty Management system. After this is accepted, the dealer can then re-certify the Escalade for sale to customers.
Dealers are also instructed to send copies of a GM-provided notification letter to all recent purchasers of 2023 Cadillac Escalade units from the dealer.
The steering wheel trim replacement is to be provided free of charge by the dealer “regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership” according to the service bulletin instructions. The replacement program continues from March 2023 through April 30th, 2025.
Actual replacement of the steering wheel trim requires approximately 42 minutes of labor at the dealership. Since only 750 units of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade are affected, GM advises dealers to only order the applique once the presence of an affected unit is confirmed.
Owners of 2023 Cadillac Escalades who have questions regarding the retrofit can call Cadillac’s customer service number, referencing the GM customer satisfaction program number below.

Why wasn’t this noticed and rectified on the line.
These were reportedly assembled on a Friday afternoon, after the lunch break. The assemblers can’t be expected to get everything correct during that time.
I’m surprised that all of them even had steering wheels ………………..
Why would anybody notice?
Why ,not. Maybe Robots would do a better job .
More GM QC problems, there’s a new story almost every day, someone needs fired!
Where is the quality control?
As the owner of a Mercedes S560, I can’t speak much for MB’s QC either. 22K miles and a creaking center console, creaking front seats, rattling visor, and failing entertainment system (radio shows one station, but plays another; sometimes no sound at all despite high volume) have all been persistent issues. Cost cutting is happening across the industry. I’ve owned four Cadillacs before buying the Benz, and I can honestly say the Cadillacs have all been better built. Maybe I just got a lemon…
I don’t care for Toyota, remember the lawsuit where the gas pedals were sticking to the floor? They just got better PR
Its quite obvious that GM needs to replace who ever is in charge of and responsible for quality control. Wrong steering wheel folks, come on! Doesn’t give you any confidence in the quality of the rest of the vehicle This should have been the April fool’s day joke! Sad
My father would say “a house is built only as good as the man driving the nails”. Quality is built in is only as good the persons on the assembly lines. There sure seems to be a lack of skilled workers let alone enough of them.
