Following the announcement of refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX in Mexico in mid-February, General Motors has just confirmed the upcoming arrival of Buick‘s updated crossover in the Latin country.
At the recent GM Mexico Annual Dealer Convention held in Las Vegas, Nevada, the automaker confirmed the launch of refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX in Mexico during this second quarter of the year. The new 2024 Encore GX stands out for being the first vehicle to adopt the Tri-Shield brand’s new corporate image in North America.
“Buick renewed its image to bring our customers more style, luxury and innovation. The brand’s new Tri-Shield logo defines the beginning of one of the most exciting stages for Buick,” Marketing Manager for Buick at GM Mexico, Ángel Pacheco. “And what better than to do it with the arrival of the new 2024 Buick Encore GX, one of our most distinctive SUVs,” he added.
GM’s Mexican subsidiary reports that 2024 Buick Encore GX will arrive in the country in two distinctive trim levels, including the Sport Touring (ST) that becomes a standalone trim instead of an appearance package, and Buick’s new range-topping Avenir trim. Each configuration offers its own personality by embracing the brand’s new Pure Design language, with a darkened finish on the ST and bright elements on the Avenir.
On a mechanical level, both versions of 2024 Buick Encore GX for Mexico will be equipped as standard with the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T engine, developing 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, mated to the continuously variable automatic transmission, just like the current model offered in that country. Similarly, the 2024 Encore GX will maintain the FWD configuration as the only option in the Mexican market.
The refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX will be available for sale in Mexico at the end of the second quarter of the year, a few weeks after imminently arriving in the U.S. and Canadian markets this spring. Both the two ST and Avenir variants will feature an extensive list of technology and safety equipment to position themselves in the premium subcompact crossover segment in the country. Pricing will be revealed during the Encore GX’s official launch.

It Looks ugly to me. I don’t get the stupid crossover phase. Can you say globalization?
“Pushing the Red, White, & Blu Tri-Shield in North America and just what does that mean with these vehicles made in South Korea, the Envision in China, and only the Enclave made in the United States?
I was wondering if it was just me thinking “WTF was GM thinking with these VERY 2022 Ford Explorer looking SUVs”. I am betting no one will be able to tell which brand of SUV they are looking at unless they are close enough to see the logos. Even Ford has realized how bland the look was as I see the 2024 models are moving away from the super similar fugley designed front-end. To me, this is almost as questionable as the Asteck was….
What an ugly refresh! Sad Buick very sad!
Kind of disappointed what GM has out there. Competition has many great looking sporty models. I don’t know what they were thinking designing this one.
I like it now, and it’s growing on me. To each his own. I think an iconic Buick “waterfall” type grill styling might have worked better in this refresh debut. The rear is elegant and the interior cockpit design is awesome. I suspect this is gonna be a good seller.
Initially I really really didn’t like the new look for Buick but it’s grown on me. The new “shark nose” looks modern where as the current model looks more traditional.
I’m guessing a lot of folks here posting are slightly older and this is new look is geared toward a new gen in an effort to attract younger buyers.
I’m having a hard time visualizing Buick’s new design on the next gen Enclave which is due out soon.
Finally hoods that point downwards instead of an ever higher vertical grille. I find it so stupid to do like Toyota with its latest generation of Rav4 versus its previous one. Tired of the rugged look of the anti-aerodynamic tacotonka look .
It’s good that Buick softened their appearance for vehicles that will never experience difficult conditions anyway
