Next-Gen Cadillac CT6 Debut Coming Up In China

Having caught the next-gen Cadillac CT6 undisguised on U.S. roads earlier this week, GM Authority has just learned that the all-new Cadillac CT6 will debut in China very soon.

Sources familiar with SAIC-GM’s product plans have reported that the next-gen Cadillac CT6 will be officially unveiled in the coming days in China, and will go on sale in the local market before the end of the second quarter of the year. As such, the main General Motors joint venture in that country is making the final adjustments to start mass production and shipments of the vehicle to the brand’s dealer network.

In fact, the automaker has completed the testing period of its prototypes, and has begun creating marketing content using fully undisguised units of the next-gen Cadillac CT6 that have been captured in public areas. In particular, a CT6 unit dressed in gray paint and the Premium Luxury trim level has emerged on Chinese social networks.

Aesthetically, the second-generation Cadillac CT6 presents the latest evolution of the brand’s design language, characterized by an imposing front end comprised of a large shield-shaped grille and more stylized light clusters – which are now physically divided – as well as organic body lines that accentuate the vehicle’s large proportions. The interior will adopt a massive 33-inch curved screen similar to the one in the Cadillac Lyriq.

As we first reported in November, the upcoming Cadillac CT6 will continue to be based on the current model’s Omega platform and will retain the familiar 2.0L I4 LSY engine rated at 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission. Although it is not official, range-topping finishes could add hybrid assist with an increased output.

The next-gen Cadillac CT6 will officially debut in the coming days and will go on sale in the second quarter of the year in China, the only country in the world where Cadillac’s large sedan is currently manufactured and marketed. At least as of this writing, there are no plans to market the new Cadillac CT6 in the North American market.
