Almost a year ago, Hot Wheels released a special 1990 Chevy 454 SS diecast model exclusively for Hot Wheels Red Line Club (RLC) members. Now, interested hobbyists who missed on the 2022 first edition have the opportunity to get their very own 454 SS, as Hot Wheels will be releasing a second edition soon.
Once again exclusively available to RLC members, this second rendition is extremely similar to the first edition. This means Real Riders wheels, a working liftgate, and a working hood with a replica 454 Big Block are all featured once again.
However, there are a few additions that make this second model unique as compared to the first, most obvious of which is the paint scheme. This 1990 454 SS features a ‘Spectraflame’ red paint job, which serves to make the diecast model standout. In addition, the interior is black, where the 2022 first edition featured a red interior colorway.
For reference, the 1990 Chevy 454 SS was one of the most iconic muscle trucks from the 1990s. Produced from model year 1990 to 1993, this pickup was most notable for the standard 454 cubic-inch Big Block V8, which developed 230 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque. Output was routed to the rear wheels through the GM three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission, while further upgrades included Bilstein shocks, separate oil and transmission fluid coolers, a quick-ratio steering rack and a heavy-duty front anti-roll bar.
As aforementioned, this limited-run diecast is only available for purchase by RLC members. In fact, it’s worth noting that only two models are available per membership. For those who may be interested but aren’t a member, an RLC membership costs $9.99 per year, and provides priority access to future RLC exclusive Hot Wheels models. This 1990 Chevy 454 SS will be available on April 25th, 2023 at 9 am PST.

So cool. GM should hire some of these Hot Wheel designers.
That’s a great truck
I must Have.
I only remember then in BLACK never saw a red one.
When Hot Wheels came out in the 1960’s, we all wanted them. Match Box may have beat them to the market but HW’s was just cool that you can have races with your buddies that required no power and it all could fit in a shoe box. I think Hot Wheels helped cause the demise of Lionel Trains as it was the #1 toy for the baby boomers. Hot Wheels still rings for all generations. A great product that doesn’t break the bank and you do not need an app.
Spent so many hours with Hot Wheels and Supercharger seeing how many consecutive jumps cars could do. Still have them!
WAY COOL !!! (And I Am Not Spam You So And So’s)
I had so much fun with my Hot wheels as a kid in the 1980s that now I collect any Hot wheels car that I think is cool looking I currently have over 700 Hot wheels and matchbox by Mattel combined. I wish I could get my hands on this one it’s a cool design.
