General Motors recently unveiled the 3X trim levels for both the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and GMC Hummer EV SUV. The debut includes specs and important figures for the two body styles, including the manufacturer’s estimated driving range. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the estimated driving range for the GMC Hummer EV 3X trim levels.
According to General Motors, the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup 3X will cover an estimated 329 miles per charge when equipped with the optional Extreme Off-Road Package (includes 18-inch wheels, 35-inch Mud Terrain tires), and 355 miles per charge when equipped with the standard 22-inch wheels. The 2023 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickup will cover an estimated 329 miles per charge. All three trim levels are equipped with a three-motor powertrain, with one motor up front and two motors mounted in the rear. Maximum output is estimated at 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound feet of wheel torque, or roughly 1,200 pound-feet of motor torque.
Meanwhile, General Motors states that the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV 3X will cover an estimated 298 miles when equipped with the optional Extreme Off-Road Package (includes 18-inch wheels, 35-inch Mud Terrain tires), and 314 miles when equipped with the standard 22-inch wheels. The 2024 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 SUV will also cover 298 miles with the Extreme Off-road Package, and 314 miles with the standard 22-inch wheels.
Like the Pickup models mentioned above, the SUV trim levels listed all include a three-motor powertrain, with one motor up front and two motors in the rear. However, output from the SUV trim levels is rated at 830 hp, 11,500 pound feet of wheel torque and about 1,200 pound-feet of motor torque.

That range sucks. Not to mention the time needed to recharge that large of a battery pack. I will stick with my diesel Suburban and its 700+ miles of range per tank.
What is the range when the temps are cold, below 40 degrees running the heater, or hot running the A/C? Oh, we don’t want to talk about that. How about when towing 7,500 pounds with 4 passengers? Oh, we don’t want to talk about that.
Not to mention the driving distance towing a 7500 lb trailer. I think it was only around 200 miles.
It was 100 miles or less, according to Car and Driver.
These are for people who already have a work truck to tow, haul manure and horse trailers. There is no mass planning of EV owners to trip across country! We’re talking pavement pounding, cruise around town, grocery-getters. For that group? Let them have their fun. Negative comments come from those who are least interested in electric Hummers. Either of these will fit nicely next to my ICE truck. I’ll need both!
Who buys a 1000 HP truck that tows 7,500 pounds for a cruise around town, and for grocery-getting? Wrong Biden is for mass planning of EV owners to take trips across the country! Many states have already set dates for only EVs will be sold.
Isn’t it funny that everyone seems to expect a new product to perform the same as a product that has been around nearly 125 years. I remember when my 1-ton Dulley only got about 5 to 7 miles to a gallon. So, my 36-gallon tank would only take me about 250 miles of course gas was only .40 a gallon give or take. That was from about 50 to 75 years after the ICE vehicles were invented. I also remember manufacture’s and those who bought them crying every time the rules were changed to make things better and how impossible it was going to be to go beyond what is present today. Some of the first EVs had under 100miles of range and now there are EVs with 400 or more range and the 2022 Lucid Air, with 520 miles on a full charge and that is about in 15 years after the first Tesla and it had about 244 miles a charge.
I see a lot of people saying, “I have to get 700-miles while towing 7500lbs and 4 passengers.” I’d bet the 700 miles is a lot less when towing 7500lbs and 4 passengers in the vehicle. I wonder how many gallons of fuel that is.
