GM’s All-New Wuling Bingo Officially Launches In China

General Motors’ SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture in China has just officially launched the all-new Wuling Bingo EV, shortly after the zero-emission hatchback’s world debut in the Asian country.

The automaker launched the Wuling Bingo in China as its first all-electric five-door vehicle to bolster its strong portfolio of small zero-emission cars, led by the successful Wuling Mini EV that has established itself as the best-seller of the entire EV category in the Chinese market. As such, the Bingo expands Wuling’s lineup with a unique proposition that seeks to win over a broader spectrum of customers.

The all-new Wuling Bingo becomes SGMW’s tenth model manufactured on the company’s exclusive Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform for zero-emission vehicles, which manages the Wuling and Baojun brands. Unlike the entire range of existing mini cars, the Bingo EV uses a new variant of the architecture with a wheelbase extended by about 20 inches, allowing it to house its larger body.

In particular, the Wuling Bingo EV lineup consists of five variants called Light, Comfort, Express, Enjoy and Connect translated from Mandarin, boasting two battery configurations with different ranges. The two starter trims are equipped with the base battery pack, providing a range of 203 km or 126 miles, while the top three trims include a larger battery with a range of 333 km or 207 miles.

Similarly, the all-new Wuling Bingo’s powertrain includes a single rear-mounted electric motor available in two power configurations: the base option generates 30 kW or 40 horsepower associated with the smaller battery pack in the Light and Comfort variants, and 50 kW or 67 horsepower in the longer-range Express, Enjoy and Connect versions. In addition, all trims are fully equipped with technological features.

The all-new Wuling Bingo EV is already available for sale throughout the official Wuling dealer network in China, where the new model is manufactured exclusively to supply the domestic market. The model stands out for its striking retro design with rounded shapes, the largest interior space in its segment and a smart storage layout that maximizes the cabin’s practicality. Here are the prices of EV Bingo in China:

  • Bingo EV Light: 59,899 yuan (about $8,720 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • Bingo EV Comfort: 65,800 yuan ($9,580 USD)
  • Bingo EV Express: 73,800 yuan ($10,750 USD)
  • Bingo EV Enjoy: 79,800 yuan ($11,620 USD)
  • Bingo EV Connect: 83,800 yuan ($12,200 USD)

If these small EVs can pass Federal safety tests then GM should sell them here in the U.S. for city dwellers and college students as their first EVs and compete against foreign brands. Then GM can later sell then larger and more expensive EVs.

The Bingo can become as famous as the Beetle was in the 1960s
