GMC Introduces New Range-Topping Denial Trim Level

As the budding electric vehicle market continues to grow, there have been some consumers who have voiced concerns over issues like range-anxiety and the efficacy of all-electric vehicles, and some believe that the transition to fully electric vehicles in the near or mid-term future is unrealistic. For such buyers, General Motors has just announced new range-topping trim levels for ICE-powered GMC vehicles, the all-new Denial and Ultimate Denial trims.
These new range-toppers will be available for every GMC vehicle that currently features a gasoline engine under the hood, including:
It’s worth noting that because the Hummer EV Pickup, Hummer EV SUV, and upcoming Sierra EV are electric vehicles, they will not be receiving these new trim levels.
Of course, as a celebration of ICE engines, each vehicle configured in the Denial or Ultimate Denial trim will feature a muscular fuel-swilling powerplant. Denial-trimmed models will be equipped with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, Ultimate Denial vehicles will resurrect the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT5 gasoline engine – the same powerplant found in the 2019 Corvette ZR1 – rated at 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque.
As exciting as this new development is, GM clarified that the introduction of these new trims will not interfere with plans to go fully electric by 2035.
“General Motors has a storied history with the small block gasoline engine, so we found it fitting to celebrate the internal combustion engine one last time,” Buick and GMC global vice president Ancan Hundred said in a prepared statement. “Some of our customers aren’t ready to make the transition to EVs just yet, or probably will never be, so these new trim levels will serve as our last hurrah for gasoline engines, with a humorous twist.”
No further details about the Denial and Ultimate Denial trim levels has yet been released, but we expect to receive more information in the coming months. We’ll keep you updated, but in the meantime, Happy April Fool’s Day, GM Authority readers! We doubt GM would actually introduce such vehicles, especially in the face of tightening emissions regulations, but it’s certainly fun to muse on the idea of a supercharged Savana cargo van!

Finally, something out of “gm” to put a smile on the faces of loyalists. I do spot a typo, however.
It’s April 1st, so I take any article posted today with a grain of salt.
Dude are you being serious right now?
Can’t stop laughing out loud.
Ram builds em every day , If GM had a hair on their @ss they would build these. Such a cruel joke !
I wish a 6.2 ZR1 engine…But I have blown (2) 6.2’s in the last 3 years, last one was a 23 GMC Ultimate, 9000 miles, took 45 days to get an engine…No April fools..
“DENIAL” instead of “DENALI “. Sounds like April Fools Day to me!
OH, if only this were real! A Blown 6.2, is ALMOST like the old Mark 4 Big block. Too bad the “Green New Deal” fokes have to mess up our future. Give me back the late ’60’s and early ’70’s. Glad I still have my ’69 Chevelle SS. Bought it new, just before my Uncle Sam, gave me a paid vacation. Let’s hope they don’t come for ICE’s.
Does every writer get their turn today?
Haha, this is almost as funny as caddy will sell a 2024 LYRIQ before 2025.
GM gets to screw up something good again… why don’t the bring back a Vega suv, size of a smart car, not gas powered, not electric….. but rubber band powered! Wind it up in am and go all day! But gm would cheapen it somewhere and it would become another failure….. where’s my EV1? I still have books/ pics
You got me on the off road Vette story but did you really think after that one, any of your other stories would fool us?
They need to really differentiate GMCs from Chevy versions. I propose all GMC SUVs and trucks be switched to mid-engine layouts, like the Corvette.
Not sure which April Fools part is crazier, a Savana Denali or a 6.2 V-8 Terrain. That kind of Terrain would be like a modern day Typhoon. That’d be pretty awesome.
You got me!
