GM To Fix Incorrect 2021 Cadillac XT4 Owner Manual Trailer Weight Rating

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 is the third model year for the first-generation crossover, ushering in several changes and updates over the previous 2020 model year. Notably, some 2021 Cadillac XT4 units included an owner manual that listed an incorrect trailer weight rating. Now, GM has released a fix for this issue via a new customer satisfaction program.

According to the customer satisfaction program, only the 2021 model year of the Cadillac XT4 was affected by an incorrect trailer weight rating listed in the owner manual. It is not known how many units of the 2021 Cadillac XT4 are affected by this issue. The customer satisfaction program instructs dealers to print the correct trailer weight ratings, and insert the printout into the owner manual of the affected vehicle.

For reference, the 2021 Cadillac XT4 has a maximum trailer weight of 2,500 pounds, a GCWR of 6,945 pounds, and a maximum tongue weight of 250 pounds. If equipped with the heavy-duty cooling system, those ratings increase to 3,500 pounds for the maximum trailer weight, 7,936 pounds for the GCWR, and 350 pounds for the maximum tongue weight.

Compared to the preceding 2020 model year, the 2021 Cadillac XT4 introduces a new exterior paint options list, with two new hues added to the lineup and two exterior colors deleted. What’s more, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels are equipped with outside mirrors with heated, power adjustable, power folding, and driver-side auto dimming capabilities, while the power liftgate was made standard on Luxury models, deleting the manual liftgate. Sport models are equipped with red brake calipers, and 20-inch Glass black wheels were added to the options list.

Further updates were added to the cabin with the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The rear-seat infotainment system with a DVD player was deleted, as was the leather-wrapped steering wheel. With regard to packages, the Onyx Sport Package made its introduction for the 2021 model year, while the Sport Dynamics Preferred Package was deleted.

As for the greasy bits, the 2021 Cadillac XT4 cradles turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, which is rated at a maximum of 237 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. The GM nine-speed automatic transmission is on board for cog swaps, while under the skin, the Cadillac XT4 rides on the GM E2 platform. Production took place at the GM Fairfax factory in Kansas City.
