GM Shipping A Massive Amount Of 2024 Chevy Trax Units To The U.S. This Year

General Motors unveiled the 2024 Chevy Trax last October, debuting a brand-new generation for the entry-level crossover. Notably, GM has very high expectations for the 2024 Chevy Trax, with plans to ship a massive number of units to the U.S. this year.

According to GM Authority sources, GM is planning to build and ship 184,000 units of the 2024 Chevy Trax to the U.S. during the 2023 calendar year. The first shipment left port early last month.

The first 2024 Chevy Trax shipment leaves port for the U.S.

Obviously, that’s a very high number of units for the new crossover. However, production of the 2024 Chevy Trax is now under way at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

GM clearly has high sales expectations for the 2024 Chevy Trax, with the automaker looking to cash in on the affordable new vehicle market in which fewer and fewer models are competing. To note, Chevy sold 47,975 units of the Chevy Cruze, 31,281 units of the Chevy Spark, and 116,816 units of the Chevy Trax during the 2019 calendar year, making for a total of 196,072 “affordable” vehicles delivered.

The new 2024 Chevy Trax introduces new styling that takes cues from the ICE-based Chevy Blazer, as well as new exterior dimensions that are lower, longer, and wider than the preceding Chevy Trax. Exterior features include LED lighting and unique wheels and grille treatments for each trim level, plus 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch wheel options.

The cabin on the 2024 Chevy Trax is also roomier than the preceding model, offering an extra 3 inches of rear legroom and 12 percent greater cargo capacity. An 8-inch diagonal infotainment screen is standard, while higher trim levels include an 11-inch screen.

Under the hood, 2024 Chevy Trax cradles the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, the output of which is rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The GM VSS-F vehicle set provides the underpinnings.

They also sold 13,971 units of the Sonic.

GM purposely killed the Sonic by making it over priced. They didn’t want it anymore, although it was the right size and comfortable.

and they killed the Cruze by giving it incredibly boring looks

A larger vehicle fits my needs, but if I were on a tighter budget I’d seriously consider the new Trax and not feel bad. It looks great and the price is reasonable.

I’m on disability and the only reason I was able to afford a new car was because I got a $30k settlement from a car accident. I figured I’d have to settle for something I hated in that price range and then I found the 2024 Chevy Trax. What an amazing-looking crossover for under $27,000. And it’s got features you only see in much more expensive cars. I have a sunroof, wireless charger, heated front seats, steering wheel, and mirrors. Stop & Go Cruise Control, an 11″ infotainment screen and all the safety features out there like cross-traffic alert, Lane Keep assist, forward collision and pedestrian alert… etc. The dealers can’t keep them in stock. I had to order mine while it was still in transit to the dealer.

John Henry, GM also export autos. The Arlington Texas built more large SUVs in March than any month in history. Guest where a large portion of those SUVs went. (Middle East)

The middle east is our enemy ever since 911. They SHOULD be importing our cars as payback. China should be importing American cars to payback everything Biden gave them that they didn’t steal from us themselves.

Very glad to see a vehicle manufacturer is not forgetting the people that can’t afford to buy a new vehicle in this new EV world. Thank you GM. 👍🏻

Has anyone seen the interior? I wonder about the materials at this price point. They are starting to arrive at the dealers here in Chicago.

Good. GM at least recognizes the importance of this crossover. All they need to do is advertise it properly and promote it at events and locations, while simultaneously pushing the current and refreshed Trailblazer.

Aren’t these built to gm’s specs/options and then the dealers fill their allocations from the pool available? So, no orders spec’ed out by customers and you choose from dealer stock? Long time chevy owner, as my first vehicle was a 65 El Camino, 327, auto that my Dad bought for me at 15 in 1970. I have owned all v8’s except an 84 Cutlass, 92? Lumina, & 02 still have Impala bought new. Our 2020 Equinox with the 1.5 turbo (very satisfied with it in all ways) is our first 4 cylinder. I really like the restyled Trax but how strong and reliable are 3 cylinders? Doesn’t seem like much.

They should move some production to China too, nothing more exciting than an iconic American brand offshoring all of its production, and then shipping it thousands of miles back to the USA to sell to gullible consumers.

Just a note. We have never bought a new vehicle built outside of the US and we never will. Keep our dollars at home.

Understood, which pisses me off on how they sold the Lordstown Ohio Plant. They could have been making these, the Buick Envista and probably even the Trailblazer there which would have guaranteed a steady supply of entry level subcompact GM crossovers to dealers. Now we have to be depending on South Korea to manufacture and carry these vehicles over the whole pacific ocean, while being subject to any kind of militarist crap from North Korea and China.

the average entry level car buy is clueless about what’s under the hood, but yes, they’d get a lot more enthusiasts with a 1.5 Turbo

Seems to be selling just fine, in fact a great majority sell before the ship hits port or the truck makes it to the dealership.

At least it has a nice assortment of exterior colors you hardly see anymore as long it is a black interior. I just cannot understand this mentality. I buy a vehicle with the interior as important as the exterior. Anyone who lives in the sunbelt knows how hot the interior can get with or without window tint. Ever touch a black steering wheel while it sat in the sun for a few hours. Pretty hot before the AC can catch up. Case in point. Our 2017 Murano, white paint has a beautiful cream color interior including the steering wheel and a darker tone dash under the windshield. A few years ago, Nissan now has about 1/2 the interior as black only, dash and steering wheel with lighter colors seats. Murano is now off the chart for the next vehicle.

I’m glad you highlighted the importance of finding an auto glass repair company that uses certified adhesive for windscreen repair. My sister’s car has a buckling windscreen, so I’ll recommend she contacts Commercial Glass Installation Services for the necessary repairs.
