GM Introduces The Chevy Bolt EUV In Brazil

Just as the company anticipated last summer with announcement of three Chevrolet EVs for South America, General Motors has just introduced the all-electric Chevy Bolt EUV for the first time in Brazil.
The automaker introduced the new Chevy Bolt EUV for the first time in Brazil during this year’s edition of the Lollapalooza music festival, highly popular among young Brazilian audiences. Chevrolet‘s zero-emission crossover was the standout product innovation at the 2023 Lollapalooza Brazil, where Chevy shifted its conceptual approach by concentrating on the brand, and not just the Onix as in the previous seven editions of the festival.
“We are committed to leading the transformation of tomorrow’s mobility in the region, and Chevrolet’s electric cars are strategic for that,” said Executive Director of Marketing at GM South America, Chris Rego, in a statement. “We understand that this is the time to intensify our communication about this new technology with the younger consumer,” he added.
As such, the Chevy Bolt EUV made its first public appearance in the South American country during the 2023 Lollapalooza Brazil festival on March 24th, 25th and 26th at the Interlagos Racetrack in São Paulo, with special presentations inside the brand’s booth to highlight the fact that it is a fully connected car and a 100-percent zero-emission model. The all-new Chevy Montana was also exposed as the most significant novelty in the Brazilian market.
During the 2023 Lollapalooza Brazil’s show intermissions, the Chevy Bolt EUV allowed attendees to rest by offering a space for relaxation and decompression. Inside the vehicle, it was possible to take part in a guided meditation session with silence and recharging energy as watchwords – just like in the electric car. In addition, a team of Brazilian influencers and digital content creators was present interacting with the public.
The new Chevy Bolt EUV was officially presented as Chevrolet’s second all-electric vehicle in Brazil after the Chevy Bolt EV, and its launch is expected to take place during the second half of this year, when it is scheduled to hit the dealer network. GM Brazil had already confirmed plans to introduce the Bolt EUV, as well as the all-new Chevy Blazer EV and Chevy Equinox EV in major South American countries starting this year.

I bet their grid is ready for the EV push 🙂 LOL
Too bad Chevy euthanized its Volt. That was the most appropriate name possible for an EV!
BOLT not so much.
Are they going to build them there too or export them? The waiting lists in the US are off the charts… Perhaps they could take care of the customers who’ve been waiting patiently before they start to line up new customers?
They will be exported from the United States, as the sales volume of electric vehicles in Brazil is still very low and does not justify investments in local production.
I believe that because sales of electric vehicles in the South American country are very low, this does not have a major impact on the queues of the North American consumer. In 2021, for example, only 132 units were sold.
Are Bolt EV/EUV models continuing production in 2024?
Since they’re introducing the euv in Brazil mid 2023, I assume production must be continuing somewhere, as gm authority said the Orion Lake facility was being taken over by other GM evs.
I am confused. GM is introducing the Bolt EUV to Brazil sometime in the 2nd half of 2023. Yet we have just been informed that Bolt production in the Orion Michigan plant is ceasing at the end of 2023 in order to start building the Silverado EV. GM made it sound like the Bolt would no longer be available in the US. So… is GM going to continue making the Bolt somewhere else for other world markets and exclude the US?
I have the same question.
