GM Design Team Shows Off Cadillac Coupe Sketch

Cadillac is making big strides in the EV segment, with plans to make its entire lineup all-electric by the 2030 calendar year. Naturally, the move to EVs also includes new styling language, and now, we’re getting a taste of what an all-electric Cadillac coupe might look like thanks to the following stylish concept sketch.

Recently posted to social media by the official GM Design Instagram feed (@generalmotorsdesign), this Cadillac coupe concept sketch was created by designer Jacob Lovins, and features a sleek luxury machine as viewed from the rear three-quarters perspective.

A concept sketch of a Cadillac coupe.

Cadillac Celestiq

While the sketch is clearly just a concept, it seems to draw inspiration from the Cadillac Celestiq sedan, or served as inspiration for the latter. The stance is low and wide, with an impossibly shallow greenhouse that gives the coupe an aggressive, sporty demeanor. The hoodline is long, drawing back into a low-angled windshield that connects to a curving roofline and rear hatch section.

The front overhang is nearly non-existent, while the rear overhang provides added visual heft to the concept in the tail, making it appear even more aggressive. The wheels add to this as well, presenting an attractive multi-colored design that fills the bulging wheel wells to the max, with no discernible tires whatsoever.

The rear end features a few sharp cuts and a geometric layout that stand in contrast to the smooth, glossy profile, with some textured panels around the hatch and squared-off, 90-degree styling lines. Also check the lighting bits, which include vertically oriented taillights and a lit Cadillac crest in the front fender, the latter of which may indicate the presence of a charging port.

Although this particular Cadillac concept doesn’t specifically mention any EV aspirations, the Celestiq-esque styling cues and lack of discernible tailpipes suggest that it is indeed powered exclusively by electrons.

  1. Unbelievable, is that a car or a vibrator.

  2. Seems to me Cadillac needs to come out if dreamland and start to actually deliver on what they’ve already promised the Lyriq “would be owners” instead of making empty promises and changing 2024 Lyriq options to bilk more money out of those they’ve lied to.

  3. If only they had made the El Miraj.
Dang, I still lust after that car to this day.

  4. Now Cadillac needs to bring back a full-sized and affordable 4-door sedan like the CT6.

Not all buyers want a crappy CUV/SUV or a compact car like the CT4 & CT5. GM and Cadillac…reality check! Oh, and how is the China market doing these days? Not so good, huh? Try the market in the US with something that people REALLY want and not crap that is forced on them due to “marketing research”.

    1. Cadillac needs to bring an affordable car back?? Perhaps you’ve never heard of the Chevrolet brand. That would be their job. Cadillac is a luxury brand and affordability shouldn’t be their priority as a luxury marque you will demand the price to obtain the best. Y’all are so confused on what y’all expect from this company and it shows in the way y’all think about them. This ain’t Genesis. Cadillacs don’t need to be affordable. GM has other brands for that purpose. Too many are still confused on this.

  5. I just bought a Lyriq a few days ago. In the past I’ve owned a CTS, Escalade, ELR and a CT5. The Lyriq is hands down the best quality Cadillac I’ve ever had. It’s much more luxurious than the Escalade. I’m excited for what Cadillac releases next!

  6. I have been a GM customer all my life and Cadillacs since 2009. It appears I will not be buying any more Cadillacs by the end of this decade since I will never own a battery powered vehicle…!!!

  8. QUIT SHOWING BEAUTIFUL CONCEPTS AND START BUILDING THEM. ALL OF THESE BEAUTIFUL LINES WILL START SHOWING UP ON COMPETITION CARS AND BY THE TIME CADILLAC RELEASES SOMETHING IT IS JUST A COPY OF THE COMPETITION. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED CADILLAC DOES NOT HAVE A LUXURY CAR FOR SALE AT THE PRESENT TIME, ONLY REWORKED CHEVROLET’S. THAT CT8 SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT AND A XLR VERSION SHOULD HAVE BEEN BEFORE THE C8 WITH A C8 VERSION FOR CHEVROLET.

    1. You are snorting crack cocaine. I think you have GM confused with Ford and Stellantis who reveal concepts that they know are nowhere near what the product will be like coming off of the production floor.

Cadillac has luxury vehicles for sale, you’re just too old and mind outdated in order to comprehend what modern American luxury is. Cadillac not only produces luxury vehicles but they produce segment leaders too.

It’s hilarious how Stellantis can reveal a RAM REV concept that’s nothing like the production model and people praise them (come up with excuses). GM has built the Hummer EV, a tech and engineering marvel of a machine which looks unchanged from the computer simulation that revealed the concept truck, and the only thing you fools care to discuss is how heavy and big it is on roads. Lol. Everyone steers clear of giving GM their due credit for building the worlds first Supertruck.

Now you’re actually here complaining that GM only shows beautiful concepts that they don’t build?? The Cadillac Lyriq is another vehicle nearly unchanged from concept to production. You are a confused old man, as far as I’m concerned, and if you’ve been paying attention, the competition has been copying GM lately.

Everyone has a massive almost crest shaped grille out front with thin vertical LED lighting, there are several brands that match the description of Cadillac’s signature styling. Volvo, Kia, etc.

  9. I like the Celestiq. Not so much the concept drawing.

  10. Is there a way to show a modern Fleetwood off the Celestiq? A modern Fleetwood series could compliment a new Eldorado.
